teams get hot at the perfect time sometimes. that's what we're seeing with the hawks it's fun to watch the underdog make it this far, especially when its a franchise like the hawks who haven't won anything meaningful since the 50s
I’m not washing away the good, in the regular season he’s great, truly great. But come playoff time when you HAVE to make shots, big shots, he can’t do it. Worse actually, he won’t even attempt it.
rodman was never a max guy. i've heard the sup'ed up draymond theory, but again, draymond will take shots here and there to keep defenses honest. but that's an acquired skill. anyway, i don't know that our current team needs ben simmons nor has any path to acquiring him. but i think lots of teams will and should think about trying to get him. trae young's hard to build around, too, but his team is succeeding.
Yeah, I am not saying I want him on the Lakers, only that he could be serviceable if people just used him as a defensive stopper. On the right team, he could get significant minutes and be useful. I don't really think we need him, we already have enough defense, we need offense and more specifically, outside shooting offense and he offers Zero in that regard.
I don't hate the Hawks at all, but this more than them just getting hot. They are hot, but they would not have a prayer of winning a title if even one of the big teams was healthy. I understand that injuries are a part of the game, but not to this degree. The Suns were going to lose in the first round in 5 games and then AD goes down, then they meet the Murrayless Nuggs. Now they're playing the Kawhiless Clippers. Injuries shouldn't be destroying the integrity of the game. The Hawks played a hobbled Embid and would have run into the Nets had they not been missing either Harden or Kyrie or both at times. Like I said, I like the Hawks. I actually want the Hawks to win from the teams left, but the NBA shouldn't be in a position where these types of teams are able to win. Its bad for the NBA to have a mediocre team win.
well, one thing is certain, too many of the top players are injured this year. The NBA's agenda on this season has been a resounding failure in this regard. It could have multiple years of repercussions too. I would NOT be surprised to see some of these guys continue to have health problems as a result. Frankly, us going out early just may be a blessing for us. Problem for us is Lebron is really old and AD appears to have a chronic problem, any year not competing is a serious problem for us.

this. leave that to the ncaa, where people can get all excited because the better basketball team lost to some gimmick zone squad with a chubby 6'3" center or somesuch. this is why the hawks winning is probably the toughest result. if the clips or bucks win, they've been knocking on the door for a while and have marquee stars. if phx wins, they have an all-time great finally breaking through--and they had the league's 2nd best record. if atl wins, they rode a hot streak to the 5th seed, played a team nobody expected to win, then eeked out a series over a team whose best player was playing on a torn meniscus. people would want to compare the hawks to the 2011 mavs, but the mavs beat healthy opponents (without their nominal second-best player, btw). they also won 57 games and had the 5th best record in the league, whereas the hawks would have been the 8 seed in the west and had the league's 12th best regular season record. what does the season mean if the hawks can win it? i know some fans enjoy that, i don't. why watch any of the regular season if it tells me bupkus about the playoffs?
Well these guys are professional basketball players, the best players in the world. You have to win the games in order to advance, upsets happen all the time in all sports, but advancing to the Conference Finals in the NBA is not a fluke, those teams were just better than the teams they beat. Injuries have an impact of course, but it is not the other teams fault that their opponent had injured players. If anything it illustrates the level of talent in the league, you are not supposed to just walk over a playoff team, even if you are not at your best. From a causal fans perspective, it sucks not to see the marquee guys playing for the chip, but the league was more concerned about making the TV money, than player health, and forced these guys right back onto the court with a short turn around. I guess at the end of the day, it is still a business.
i love it when an underdog like the hawks goes on a cinderella playoff run. it's probably because of my hockey background and how this sort of thing is far more prevalent in the NHL than it is in the NBA winning a title is all about having the bounces go your way. there's always a bit of luck involved with any team that wins a championship in any sport. for the hawks, they got hot at the right time and have been getting all the bounces. of course it's not all about luck and getting the bounces, the hawks are a solid team.....simple as that. because bad teams don't make it this far in the playoffs
NBA refs are garbage, and I’m not even invested in either team playing. They’re just garbage, fooled constantly by flopping, it’s making this Clippers Suns game unwatchable early on.
Like I said, garage, they almost decided this one with their antics. So nice Paul George choked at the FT line, so nice they lost on an insane buzzer beater. If Chris Paul comes back at any point the Clippers are DONE.
Just checked on ESPN and saw that Playoff P choked and the Carson City Clippers lost. Like Morango, "Good Times!"
I watched the game, honestly, other the refs checking every call and taking forever, it was a great game. Great defensive effort by both teams. GP actually had a pretty solid finish, except for the free throws. He made a couple of really clutch shots right at the end and was it not for that dunk by Ayton, the Clippers would have won. Another observation is that the Clippers are hurt way more by Kawhi not being there than the Suns are from CP not being there. The reason being that Payne is playing out of his mind, and scored 29 points with 9 assists along with 2 steals and 2 block shots. Rondo looked good in the short minutes he played, glad we let Cousins walk because he has very little left in the tank, IMHO.
