    @JSM re: Penny

    Is he known for really good offenses? With the level of disssatisfaction shown often here on LB Kidd and Hollins have been useless in contributing while Frank does his best defense in the NBA thing.

    When the Bucks lose, and their coach gets fired, he'd make a great assistant.

    Why? Same question I asked JSM about “offensive” chops above for Penny. Kidd and Hollins apparently useless. I don’t see a collaborator like Frank turning down good and effective input in that area while he focussed on defense.

    Could help with Xs and O's on offense.

    Was a good assistant for Pop for years before he took the job in Atlanta.

    If Kidd turned down interest from Portland, why would he want to coach Orlando? Their best player is a young, inconsistent, and currently injured Jonathan Isaac.

    i can think of two reasons. first, i think the writing is on the wall that you might be lillard-less within the next calendar year. second, i think jason kidd probably cares about golfing as much as coaching, and orlando's probably a good spot for that.

    Why would Kidd who is coming off a head coach hiatus want to coach a high pressured team in Portland? Could you imagine the problems that will come if Lillard demands a trade midseason? Orlando is basically a no pressure, let's tank and still develop our young players sorta deal. Great situation for a coach who is looking to get back into head coaching while not expected to do much otherwise. I wouldn't want that Portland job unless I was D'Antoni and had a say in which players should be traded. I don't think McCollum will work on that squad. If Kidd does awful in Portland, that might be his last head coaching gig. Don't think he wants to risk that and as good as Lillard is, I have trouble seeing him being able to carry the Blazers past the Warriors, Lakers, Nuggets, Utah, etc., in the upcoming seasons.

    i'd be curious to see if dantoni has any personnel say were he to take the job. that's not typically how portland's operated, but MDA has no time for jusuf nurkic or probably even zach collins, tbh.

    but i'm sure if he could swap them out for more wings and guards, he could create a 55-60 win team with lillard/mccollum/covington/powell and whatever a nurkic/collins trade might return.

    btw, i didn't realize mccollum gets 30 per right now. AD makes 35, for those complaining about his beta status. holy schnikes.

    Even though it would be fun to whack him, I don’t want that ugly mug on my phone screen.

    Nice job everyone turning the Vogel thread into the D'Antoni thread.

    I just don't want to be negative and right now, I am doubting Vogels offensive sub patterns. We are not bad on offense, we F'ing suk!!! Vogel will not last another year if he pulls the same krap as this past year.

    There, I talked about Vogel.

    i'd like to see him without his hands tied (and with an assistant that specializes in offense). schroder needed to be a 6th man, and i think his playing primarily with starters worked against us offensively in that it didn't maximize his talents at all.

    i really wonder if AC started with kcp in the backcourt with gasol at c if we would have seen a lot more movement and easy buckets due to those guards' activity paired with having a double-magnet in AD and two outstanding passers in lebron and marc. almost never got to see that configuration.

    Yeah but I think D'Antoni will always get a coaching offer even if he has a poor stint. Someone like Kidd is still relatively new at being a head coach so you can't have too many poor coaching stints early in your career.
