Keeping Dwight should've been a no-brainer from the start. He took a vet minimum with the Sixers because he wasn't 100% positive the Lakers were going to re-sign him. I mean, they told his agent that they needed approval. Approval for what? Dwight should've been re-signed without a second thought. Lakers screwed up on that.

Approval from ownership is necessary for all deals. He couldn't even wait an hour.

yeah, it's pretty clear they'd like to keep him. complete with team-wide narrative construction. if dudley didn't think we were bringing him back, he wouldn't be framing his addition as "pushing gasol to be better".

We’ve seen him get up in the air decently on lobs and rejections at the rim. Once in awhile. What’s the issue ... FAT? Or Gunnar needs to pump some part of him up?

He can get up for blocks and dunks, but not consistently. Needs to work on his body and stamina in the offseason.

Hire the guy Julius used after Magic’s 3% ;) body fat edict, have a painful summer ... but more Lakers fans’ love next year after a full camp with the coaching staff and team .... and more money the year after & going forward. Easy peas .... errr .... painful.

Wasting part or the full MLE on him is going to be a BIG mistake .

Feel like we're back to the Magic days and his non updated vision of b-ball

I'm not at all encouraged to hear we want to bring this guy back. I can't take a full season having a center with Kwame hands. He nearly put me in an early grave.

I like Drummond more than most but I have to admit those mitts of his are very hard. Kwame like indeed. So many fumbled passes.

I'm not sure what the problem is with bringing Drummond back. AD has made it clear in terms of preference that he does not want to play the 5 much during the regular season. His injury history makes that a team priority. We need a big minute guy to chew up the regular season for us. Drum is that guy. For the price it's a good solution. Keep in mind there is no ideal solution out there that I'm aware of.

We can rebuild him. We can make him better. 6 million dollars it will take.

I don't think you understand the point. Dwight should've been re-signed without needing 'approval.' It should've been, 'we want you back.' The 'approval' is a just a formality and was because the Lakers were still trying to figure out how to fit Trezz and also likely had their eyes on Marc Gasol as well and thus tried to stall for some more time. Dwight didn't want to lose his spot to compete for a title with Sixers so took that offer.

Drummond is way better than Gasol, signing Gasol was the big mistake. Evidently the FO, coaching staff and AD thought so too, that's why they signed Drummond. Of course there are a lot of fan experts, that disagree for whatever reason. liked Dwight, I think he gets a bit overrated by some fans, but he had his moments last season. Howard and Drummond would have been a great combination. Rob blew the Dwight thing no doubt, he is a former agent and he knows the game. If he had simply told Dwight that he was good there wouldn't have been any issues. He didn't do that, why? IDK..maybe he actually thought that Trezz could play center and Gasol was a better fit than Howard. He at least tried to correct his mistake.

I don't think a high usg% center who blocks the paint and doesn't have good hands to catch the ball for lobs or dunks is what the Lakers need. Would rather have Javale or Dwight. Even Enes Kanter is probably better than Drummond. At least Kanter can finish around the rim and doesn't fumble the ball every catch.
