Trezz is a good player but he doesn't fit the Lakers. Simply too small and a liability defensively. If he was able to develop a jumper, he would be unstoppable. Trezz did not complain and was on the bench rooting for the team... I think he should opt-out of his player option and find a better spot for himself to get some minutes. Will be rooting for the guy nonetheless.

He was my 3rd favorite Laker this year. Hustled his a** off. If he wants to come back, I'd love to have him for his regular season energy. If he comes back, we have Jeanie to thank for establishing the sense of family. But if I'm him, I bolt for a better opportunity.

I as well like what Trezz brings to the table with his high energy and never give up attitude.
He just gotta get a better sense of defensive intensity. He's lost on this end too often.

If he does pick up his final year of his deal and stays I'd be okay with it. But if he does decide to bolt I don't think will have a problem replacing him

I completely disagree when AD and LeBron were out for half the season I felt like Montrezl did a great job when given more opportunities to score particularly with his energy as well as scoring in the post. He’s definitely not a starter, but Montrezl remains one of the top bench scorers in the league and when he’s in that role he’s proven he will produce. For some reason Vogel refused to play him in this series although he did play a little more in the last few games.

yeah, i'd like to stand up for trez. i thought he did his job all year, then they made the choice to sit him. he never got a chance in the playoffs. meanwhile, drummond kept starting until the series was almost over.

if he walks, we won't be able to replace his regular season production with the cash we'll have. moreover, he never complained and just played his role. he was worth his salary in terms of production, and he won us a few games we might not have won, imo.

i hope he re-ups. keep him and gasol, dump drummond. add a third string utility center at low cost.

If he opts in, I will take him back in a heartbeat. He's good at eating up regular season minutes. Don't trust him in the playoffs

Man, Trezz needs to get off social media. He's way too emotional to be responding to idiots.

It's a mystery to me why Trez never has developed on the defensive side of the court. He is in good shape, he has a high motor, he is athletic, and a hard worker. With the defensive oriented coaching staff we have I really thought he would take a big step as a defender. Because he never did, I think Vogel decided to go away from him in the playoffs. We could have used more of his spark off the bench during those stretches when no one could get a bucket.

I like Trez but think he’s unfortunately going to be the odd man out. I think the team sees more potential in Drummond and want to see if they can develop him.

He is 6-7 that can't be changed. He has poor lateral footwork, which makes him a liability guarding perimeter players. His best position is power forward but most power forwards today are stretch guys, this is a matchup problem for guys with poor lateral footwork. He is simply to small for centers on the defensive end. He can score though, he is a niche player, you are going to give up some on defense playing him. That said, I don't see why we couldn't take more advantage of his offensive skills if he returns. With the way the current rules favor offensive players, I don't think you can rely on defense in order to win. The Lakers and Knicks were two of the best defensive teams in the NBA, both out in the first round because they were unable to score. We need a more balanced approach

he could've have still played even with being a poor defender, its the fact that he struggles against bigger players and lack of shooting abilities will always make him unusable in todays nba

He was a great scorer early on but faded down the stretch. Defenses wised up on him and stopped giving him the extra space down low for easy buckets.

I was always a critic of his liability where he would give up baskets just as easily as he got them. So I have mixed feelings on whether or not we should keep him. We need someone or two who could hold down the 5 defensively during the playoffs for as long as possible until we inevitably put AD there in key spots and the 4th quarter, and I’m not sure if he’s the answer.

His attitude is the best though, so I think Laker brass wants to keep him and help him with defensive rotations this off-season and his jumper which really isn’t that bad within 15 feet from the eye test.
