OK, Vogel tried... Marc isn't that great against PHX. I still believe in him, but not against this team.

I'm glad Vogel got him out of the game when he did. The difference was immediate and we took over from that point.

he must have been bad late? i thought he had positive impact early, for sure. not just making a three, but deterring a couple shots at the rim and just generally being in the right spots on both ends (especially pulling guys out of the paint on offense).

ayton is apparently going to get spoon-fed dunks no matter who we've got out there. neither drummond nor gasol can defend their high screen actions, but at least gasol can make up for it in other ways.

anyway, i think it was probably better to sit harrell and play gasol than vice versa. if it were me, gasol would start and play 18mpg or less, and AD would play all other c minutes. really, if AD allowed, he'd start at center, and gasol would play with the second unit.

    both those ships have sailed...

^ Trez is perfect to defend that type of play... you just have to tell him exactly what to do :)

He hit the most important shot of the game to kill Phoenix's momentum.

he definitely played better than he did in the first one. i just think we had a dominant starting lineup and went away from it for no reason.

Wish Morris didn't get hurt: he went from being on fire to just out of sorts. Makes it harder for Vogel just to drop the centers and go with AD the 5 sooner.

Marc and Drummond just struggle against the way the Suns use shooters to space the floor for Ayton crashing after a hard screen.

yeah, and we never signed a big mobile forward type. mckinnie, in theory, could man the 4-spot against teams like phx, but i don't think we have the guts to try that at this stage.

Trezz issue is not about his offense or personality. He can't play defense against these fluid bigs who can hit from deep.

Gasol plays because he is an exception in that he can hit from deep and is a great passer. His defense is good in the back that he is big and get at least shade some shots in the paint.

Trez can't guard bigs in the paint either. He is just a liability all around on defense.

Did some really good things tonight, was making sure AD was able to catch in the paint with some great passes, some solid defensive plays, hit a big 3. He’s got to play all playoffs even if I’m short stints if for at the very least we have a guy out there that can create for others when LeBron sits or something.

Yeah was re-watching the highlights and remembered how integral Gasol was in the late third quarter at organizing the offense to get AD the ball in good scoring positions that he ended up capitalizing on.

While Phoenix is NOT a great matchup for Marc from a defensive position due to their mobility, I think it's smart to keep Marc engaged and in game shape now, because a potential second round matchup against Denver and Jokic suits him much better.

So you want Trezz guarding Crowder at the 4? Yikes! However I do think Trezz deserves minutes. If AD can’t go, I’d start

    Shroder
    KCP (if he’s ready)
    Matthews
    Lebron
    Drummond or Marc

True, but I’ll take my chances with Bron guarding Crowder over Trezz. Trezz should feast vs Kaminsky off the bench though.
