    WTF, Bron?

It’s not like the NBA’s gonna suspend him during the playoffs, but what the f***?

Yeah they will if this is out there in the news. At least one game maybe more if he has to do a week. WTF, Bron is right. Unbelievable.

    From the article:

That reads as if he’s not going to be suspended.

I did read somewhere that our team isn’t at the 85% vaccination mark which then earns them less strict protocols. The article I read made it seem like it’s possible we’re on pace to meet that, but some people just haven’t hit the two week mark yet to be considered fully vaccinated. So this would be somewhat excusable if Lebron is actually vaccinated and him attending the party wouldn’t even be considered a protocol violation in a few weeks.

But still, for now it was a violation and he got caught red handed. Very dumb on his part.

Overall, I hope someone from the LA media grows some balls and grills him on this and how dumb him playing coy about the vaccine is. Don’t give an eff about his personal views or desires for privacy, this is about basketball. We’re trying to defend a championship and we deserve to know that he’s not at risk of missing time. And if he does end up missing time in the playoffs due to something dumb like this that would have been avoidable, he deserves to have his legacy skewered.

I find this indefensible. The only reason I might have ANY (extremely limited) tolerance for anti-vaxxers is just the general principle that it’s a free country I’m not here to tell people how to live their lives, but you don’t get that deference from me when your job is to win a championship.

I think he is, but he refuses to say either way.

"The tequila was poured at a brief outdoor photo shoot, and invitees, including recording artist Drake and actor Michael B. Jordan, had to produce proof of vaccination or a recent negative test result in order to attend."

When the reporter followed up by asking James directly if he had received the vaccine, he replied, "It's not a big deal," chuckling briefly after giving his answer.

The vague response was consistent with what James said over All-Star Weekend when he was first asked about his plans for the vaccine.

"That's a conversation my family and I will have," he said in March. "I'll keep that to a private thing."

Finally: [LeBron's teammate] Schroeder later updated his vaccine roll call, telling reporters last weekend, "I'm the only guy that didn't get vaccinated. I'll just leave it at that."

Yeah you know what, upon further thought this might be more of an indictment on the NBA’s protocols and the media trying to make a big deal, than against Lebron himself.

Players can’t go to an outdoor event that requires negative tests or vaccination, but they can jam tens of thousands of fans into an indoor arena based on local guidelines (some of which presumably are not very strict on checking for negative tests or vaccination status)?

Lebron should know and abide by the protocol, even if it’s outdated. But seems ESPN trying to make a mountain out of a molehill, because the article even says it was “addressed with the team as in other comparable instances around the league”. Makes it sound like other players have similarly got slapped on the wrist for these types of violations, but we never heard about them because it’s such a non-issue. But of course with Bron, ESPN saw a good opportunity to get clicks.

McMenamin was apparently also spreading misinformation in his article. He’s suggesting that if we haven’t met the 85% vaccination mark, that means we can’t have more than 15/17 players vaccinated. Implying Schröder was lying and Lebron might not be vaccinated.

But that’s not accurate from what I understand. The 85% mark isn’t just for players, but the entire traveling party including coaches and other staff. So we can’t really draw any conclusions from that.

Smh..you guys really thought Lebron would be punished for that? It's the King we are talking about folks. I have absolutely zero doubt, that he knew exactly how far he could go, before he went. James is a calculated dude

As much as I don't want it, he should be suspended. Everyone has to follow the rules. Those rules have protected the NBA season thus far from falling apart. They shouldn't look the other way just because it's Lebron, especially when what he was doing was purely for his own bottom line. This wasn't a funeral for a loved one or his son's wedding. It was a promotional event for his own alcohol brand. Very selfish and reckless move by Lebron. No defense for this.

But that’s not what the rules say

Almost seems like the violation was with the team not running this by the league, but the league actually would have approved it considering the event had appropriate measures in place.

Been hearing this a lot, that the NBA is showing favoritism to Lebron by not suspending him and they need to follow the letter of the law. But nobody is actually citing the letter of the law.

Can someone name one example of another player being suspended for attending an outdoor event?

He didn't do anything worth getting suspended for, ESPN made it out to be more than it really was. He's Lebron..everything he does is news.

Doesn’t sound like we really know “exactly” yet what they raised their eyebrows over? LeBron or team reporting the event?

You haven't pointed out how it wasn't in this case. Which players were suspended for doing the exact same thing?
