Way too many turnovers from DS in the losses tonight and in Miami. He's not making his case to keep him for big $ at all next year.

This is why I think he should come off the bench. He can basically be dollar store AI with a bunch of hustle players and shooters next to him on the floor., who will let him shoot a lot and have no problem with him. Schroder doesn't know how to play PG and he isn't that great of a scorer or lead offensive weapon either. Against the other teams 2nd units he would be much better.

He is a very productive player but I can't count on him to play next to Lebron/AD for starting or crucial closing minutes.

He has killer speed and take that away and he's screwed.

He can’t turn the ball over with such regularity and expect to get paid. Protecting the ball is one of his first jobs as a PG.

The eight-year veteran who shut down contract extension talks with the Lakers last month, preferring to wait until the offseason, now ranks 37th in assists-to-turnover ratio among the 57 guards in the league averaging 30 minutes or more, according to ESPN Stats & Information research.

Not sure what other teams payroll situations are that need a PG this next season but he could have cost himself a very nice contract just like KCP did in Detroit.

True, but from what I've seen of him, I don't really expect a continued playoff explosion.

He has stepped it up in the playoffs before, making clutch plays, so we’ll see what happens this year. I still have high hopes.

After almost an entire year of Schröder, my hope is that he has a great offseason, gets overpaid by somebody and the Lakers use the saved money to contain Caruso and THT. If this ends as it's supposed to - with a chip - there will be serviceable PGs on minimum contracts available, sign one of them and let THT develop in the meantime.

He follows a game with a bunch of lazy TOs with something like 3 out of control drives in the 4th quarter against the Hornets.
Schroeder is a good player (good handle combined with good quickness and defense) but he need to watch film as he does of bunch of stuff that could be corrected.

I mean if Biyombo is in the game you better not put up a soft floater in the lane: he's going to get that smashed and it did

I agree. We’ve been doing a great job of not overpaying players, and if he asks for too much, then goodbye. THT is hands down our main keeper, followed by Caruso, and I’m very confident we’ll keep both and add a veteran PG.

I also feel like Harrel will stay, but either way we would still need to add another big body to solidify the center position.

I agree with everyone regarding DS and I already said the Knicks will come after him, so fine. Let him go, keep THT and Caruso, get another true PG after Lebron retires. We can get someone on a vet min who wants a ring or off the waiver wires. Keep bringing in guys like McLemore to put around LBJ and AD for additional offense. We need Schroder so much now because we don't have the big 2 at all and THT isn't quite there yet.

Which brings up my next point: THT has got to develop that shot next off season

if the knicks want to meet his agent's asking price, it's their (continued) funeral. we shouldn't get involved in a bidding war.

I’m fine with letting him go to the Knicks. Basically DS is a luxury we can’t afford. It’s nice to have a speedy score first guard in his prime but he’s not a great PG (or even an average one at running an offense) and we can’t justify spending $20 plus million on him when we need to reup AC Fresh and THT and Trez.

Also you have to want to be here and he doesn’t have that commitment. It’s about the $ and that’s fine. Hopefully though he will help us get a ring in the meantime.
