I would say that any move our FO makes deserves a fair time to consider it before you start being negative. Pelinka, Jeannie and the team has earned that trust. There has to be intelligent banter but when it gets over the top it is a huge turn off to a lot of us fans. Honestly, this issue is why I am at this site in the first place. I could not stand the constant negative takes from everyone who was trying to have street cred at another Laker forum. It went unchecked and it sucked. I left. This is my last chance, don't let this place become like that other place and for all you guys who have to spew constant negative krap about the Lakers, go to the other site, they will love you for it.
we're scarred from all the shooters they've acquired over the years who come to LA and brick everything
I'm lukewarm on him. Average defender, not exactly a tall defender either, below average FT shooter, average 3 point shooter... I don't understand why Rob is unable to get ONE GOOD SHOOTER on this team. How is this even possible? Its unfathomable to me how wecan't shoot 3s since a decade now...every player we sign comes in and fits in nicely bricking shots... I'm not sure there are better options available right now but kudos to Rob for being active...maybe Ben finds his stroke at the right time for the post-season. I feel like the Lakers are very very deep...thats not going to help us in the post-season when rotations are cut to 8-9 players...I would have wished we were "less deep" but had better top quality among the role players. Wes has been a major let down...sadly.
You know, the really great shooters are few and far between and most of them are not very good defenders. What are we going to do, sign Korver? Sure, we would all love to sign Curry or Harris but last time I looked those guys were pretty set. I just don't look at Ben as a real major signing for us, he is a last minute guy signed with a minimum deal. Whaddya want? Half of it is a good faith deal with Rich Paul. No biggie, he is a guy worth throwing some bones to.
wes does better with more reps. his mpg and attempts per game are the lowest they've been since his rookie year, i think. his percentage isn't that far off from recent years, either (2% down). i am annoyed that danny green dipped 8 points in 3pfg% with us, then went back up 4 in philly. he's not getting better shots. anyway, i said this in another thread, but i think i'd just accept that shooters can't shoot here and double down on size and defense, hoping that somebody gets hot in the playoffs a la kcp/rondo last year. we have more luck with bad shooters overperforming, tbh.
"It's another great feeling to be able to play with the best player in the world LeBron James... " What .... the Eagle is chopped liver? Dudz needs to take this guy aside quick.
I like Mclemore because he's a low usage guy who has the skills to fit next to a high maintenance player like Lebron. If he can fit well next to Harden, he will do just fine playing alongside Lebron
harden and lebron are different, though. lebron can hit moving targets and assists for layups and dunks even when he's not moving with the ball. harden almost never makes a good pass that leads to a non-three off the standstill, and he throws to spots off the drive (which is why good defenses turn him over like crazy). what morey and dantoni figured out was that you didn't need to be high iq to play with harden--in fact, high iq players got frustrated playing with him because, contrary to popular commentary, he's not really a sharp basketball mind. but if you can stand in a corner on offense and switch everything on defense, you can play with harden. 3rd graders can do that. it's also really easy to play against if you have a talented, well-coached team, which is why harden/dantoni always beat the stuffing out of the have-nots then got outclassed when the chips were down. we'll see if mclemore knows how to play or was just another gerald green (who only found success playing roles that required zero thought).
If he can do what he just did on a more consistent basis, the Lakers will put a bad beating on the rest of the league. Sensational shooting from Ben in the 4th. That must be a huge confidence boost for him.
