I'd give him Matthews minutes again: he's the only guy who can create his own shot outside of LEbron with AD and DS out
yeah, feel like matthews might understand it as a trial. plus, we've got some upcoming games that might be expected losses given how things are going, might as well get the young guy some reps.
Another game and this argument keeps on getting stronger. THT definitely has things he can work (more consistent 3 pt shot, left hand, etc) but his ability to attack the rim, good vision, length make the Lakers more threatening.
He has 5 assists in 3 of the last 7 games (including last night), the kid can pass. Schroder/AC/THT/Bron look promising when they're on the court together
Counters should be a good thing as he seems to have them already beyond his years with his footwork after he's picked up his dribble? And yeah, shoot the J as @gcclaker says above, and bring a mid range game as well in his repertoire like Schroder. F*** analytics.
Seems like THT has come back to earth a little which isn't necessarily a bad thing. He's a kid who is still learning. Glad that he's getting burn this year though and developing more.
This is the ebb and flow of getting in scouting reports in the NBA. Defenses adjust once it becomes known you can score, and you have to be able to counter.
great that teams are already having to adjust. think about the fact that they're spending film time on our 12th guy, who's a 20 year old 46th draft pick. he's done work.
He's a bit of disaster on the 3 point rotations. Really holding him back now as I don't think Vogel will give him more minutes or crunch time minutes unless he stops messing up off ball rotations and box outs. Today partly he wasn't paired with plus guys like Caruso and Kuzma who will cover for these mistakes but that remains the biggest issue for him to work on
His age is showing defensively. It's not a matter of effort but he makes wrong reads and poor angles in closeouts. He needs a lot of mentoring from guys like Dudley, KCP, AC and Mathews. Hopefully he gets better. He had some really nice passes to Harrell for easy shots
Yes, he makes defensive mistakes, and yes he can over dribble and keep his head down, but he’s TWENTY. If he continues to improve he’s going to be a fantastic player, another fun game from him tonight, some sweet dunks too.
