I think Vogel gotta give 2nd unit more confidence and stop playing one of AD or LeBron at all times. AD/LeBron both should be around 30mpg imo especially early on in the season...and at times they look disengaged so it's better to just have our 2nd unit out there and let these guys rest a bit
Honestly, it probably is not his offense. Probably more Kidd and the other assistant coaches. But I am betting that Vogel has some say in player acquisitions. ???? But I am guessing that Lebron and Davis do too. ??? This has been a trickier fit for all the new players we brought in and with a very shortened off season. It gave us zero time to work through any schemes in the off season, so we are needing to work through a number of apparently terrible rotations to figure it out before the playoffs. Only way I can ultimately look at it and still feel good.
Important to keep in mind when we complain about rotations or the new guys not up to speed with the system or that Vogel hasn't figured out their role yet. He's largely been having to do in game experimenting due to such limited practice time.
...#1 and he's done this with Gasol The Glacier along with Harrell who's a liability? No Bradley too? Interesting.
Vogel is a good coach over time but he doesn't seem to handle situations out of the blue like Kuz/Gasol out very well. Matthews to end of the game is a basically waving the white flag: should have tried the new kid inside as Suns just decided to go 5 out and Saric created mismatches. Caruso getting hurt then threw him off more but just some weird rotations: No trezz at all when the Suns went small?
Missed the latter part of game. What happened to AC? Pioneer10 says above he got hurt. Nothing serious I hope?
They were saying during the game he was having like.. neck spasms after one play where he was on the ground for a little bit. I can’t remember what happened on the play, I think it was a foul, or maybe a non called foul, but I don’t think it was too serious, just something he couldn’t fight through in the moment.
The refs were pretty awful both ways last night -the booker ejection was crap (call one tech and let the player cool down for heaven's sake) -KCP gets a flagrant one for a totally normal basketball play trying to block bookers shot -Booker then hits AC in the head to almost knock his headband off: not even a review -KCP clearly gets fouled when he stole the ball late in the game no call
I’m a Frank Vogel supporter, but his rotations were mind boggling last night. Starting the 4th quarter with Dudz instead of Trezz? Why not play McKinnie in place of Kuz at the 3/4 combo forward?
Unreal. The defense is rock solid, we have multiple defenders, inside and out. The shooting still needs to improve though.
Offense is a big problem when the Lakers aren't making threes but I have a lot of confidence the defense can step it up when needed. Great to know the Lakers can always resort to their defense to win games. What Vogel has instilled into guys like Kuzma and even LeBron has shown his capabilities as a defensive coach. Lue would never have been able to get LeBron to play like this defensively.
