If he's not healthy he should not play tomorrow vs the C Bags.

If he's healthy then he better bring his best effort

He'll play, we'll lose, waste of a recovery time. Bench his butt till he's at least 95%

AD looks like Pau from late 2010 to 2012. Something is wrong mentally or physically. I don't know if he's lost his desire or he's just not physically there. He's unreliable at the moment. He plays soft way too many times and he keeps losing the ball, this is how Pau looked and he did not snap out of it. Lakers need to have a talk with him and see what is going on. He was a game worst -10 tonight

really want to know why he's so hesitant with the ball and refusing to take it hard to the hoop. keeps on settling for bad jumpers

I’m not worried in the slightest that this is some long term thing. AD is in a different stratosphere than Pau ever was. I’m chalking it up to a bit of a championship hangover, he’s having trouble locking in the way he did in the bubble because the games don’t have that level of significance yet. Doesn’t feel the need to attack aggressively as much and risk injury.

But I can’t lie, now that you mention it, that is a pretty apt comparison to how it feels watching AD out there. The clumsiness and losing the ball is reminiscent of that era of Pau, and it’s a bit strange. I’d have to guess something is bothering him physically too so he’s not as confident in establishing position.

But yeah, at the end of the day I’ll gladly take 27/14 in a W against the C Bags. Do think losing the ball on the last possession is what left a poor taste in our mouths, but otherwise it was a solid game.

I would rather have him just take a week or 2 weeks off and get right physically and mentally. Even JVG mentioned how AD is just content to float out in the perimeter, especially when Boston went zone. The ball was very loose out of his hands tonight. Don't get me wrong he is productive but he's not playing at a star level that he can play at, where he dominates smaller players.

For his career, AD averages 7.1 free throws attempted per game. 2020/2021 he's at 5.7 free throw attempts a game, which is the lowest amount since his rookie year. Also the worst FT% of his career.

Not only the numbers but he was ruining the C Bags the entire game until the last few minutes. This is why I wanted the C Bags in the Finals last year. Lakers, especially AD would have mowed them down.

I'm not that concerned right now. We know he had a quad injury. Earlier on this year he's had a calf injury (first game), ankle injury, toe injury . . . These are knowns.

Whatever was ailing Pau seemed mental not physical and it still remains a mystery. That year he was whiny and just totally wussy. Phil knew what was up with him but never divulged what it was.

To me it's totally different. We know that AD has been battling injury and coming off only two months between Finals and new season. He's trying to get or stay healthy and that's what is going on.

I think AD will be just fine. He called himself out when he knew he was playing poorly. Next we saw he put a 30 plus point game on Chicago. Last night he did not play poorly at all. 27 and 14? Sure, he was not as efficient as usual shooting less than 50% but he was coming off of or playing through a quad injury. I'm glad he showed up! We would have lost badly without him.

He will turn this thing around and play more consistently when his health improves.

only 1 TO, too, just came at a bad time. but that's been an issue for him, imo, so only 1 is good.

Maybe it's just me but does it seem as if AD isn't as energetic as he used to be? He used to be pumped up after a great defensive play or a dunk but now he's just walking away with no emotion. Even with LeBron, it just seems like they aren't as close anymore.

Hmm, I’ve seen him pretty stoked after big plays this year. I think in general he’s got a little bit of Championship/right back into new season hangover. Plus he is trying to work through nagging injuries. He is fine. It’s the regular season.

I have no concerns about AD, other than hoping he can get to full strength by the time we enter the playoffs. He's clearly being careful not to aggravate any of his existing injuries, or create any new ones. He's a guy who--NOT FOUR MONTHS AGO--averaged 25 points, 11rebounds, and 57% in the Finals (after hitting a game-winning buzzer-beater three in the WCF). He didn't suddenly start sucking and/or losing the will to live. He's resting up for the only games that really truly matter, while our workhorse unicorn superstar GOAT* keeps the trains running on time.

(*I refer here to Caruso, obvs)

I was getting pissed last night at his reluctance to get deep in the paint, but then had to remind myself of how our boy Raj summarized what most of us have been thinking:
