Hmm... either I have lower standards for him or like that I saw defense out of him at all tonight. No one on the roster is playing defense. All 11 players in our active rotation, for whatever reason, are playing f***ing Chucky Atkins and Tierre Brown caliber defense. So the fact that he showed above average D for himself since he's been a Laker, I'll take it.
Yeah I thought he was alright to good in the 2nd half on D . Lakers are getting used to a new defense but opponents are making tough shots too ...
3 losses were all the same. Each player on the team didn't miss. Some had a few players who didn't miss all game long. That is the only way you can beat the Lakers. Make all your shots. The Heat proved that in the Finals. They played 2 perfect games. The other 4 were laughers when they weren't hitting.
Great minutes and energy out of him tonight. 16 & 8. Only John Wall had more rebounds out there. Speaking of Wall, why on earth did they put him on Trez multiple times in the post? Was that a leftover MDA play?
Another solid one last night. 3 way tie for 3rd leading scorer on our squad. 14 points on 50% shooting, I'll take it. He got a quick 8, but then didn't get a lot of looks with our 4th quarter garbage time unit. I have to say that his mid range J has been much better than advertised. I don't know if it wasn't in Kawhi...I mean Doc's game plan, but I didn't realize he had that in his bag.
He didn’t have that shot in his repertoire last year apparently. Took some ridiculously small number of mid range Js reportedly all season like 4 or 5. Or made only 4 or 5.
I wonder what his market value is right now... He can clearly do more on a different team since he's a 20/10 player. He's got a player option next season but so far, he's been fairly limited in what he's been able to show. I hope he opts in for that $9 million amount but part of me also wants the guy to get paid. He's never had a high level contract before and seems like a good dude. Let's hope the Lakers can somehow reward him if he helps them win a title.
I keep stressing, worried that AC is going to be the odd man out with all the players we and FO apparently love lots that are deserving of some way some how getting paid.
Man, Trez and THT probably have the quickest hands when scoring under the basket. If they were the moles in a whack-a-mole game, they would never get hit.
I was thinking that. But if both he and the team are happy with each other and we win a chip again, maybe he opts in with a wink wink to nice raise the next year with some form of Bird rights. We’re going over the cap for a couple years I’m expecting in order to keep new dynasty intact. The Eagle may still get left out. Better hit them 3s this year.
2nd leading scorer for us tonight. Liked how aggressive he was against them, they had no answer for us up front. 21 & 6 against the OKC kids. I have to say, it's such a luxury to have a backup you can pencil in for 15-20 points. When you don't have to rely on someone to spoon feed them or draw up plays for them. Just get him the rock and let him go to work.
i think kuz would get moved before we fail to retain the eagle, tbh. but trez walking in FA is a real possibility, and it would hurt our regular season record quite a bit, imo.
He got a lot of easy ones in the 4th. An efficient 16 on 8-10 shooting. Continues to bring the energy.
He did a great job even though Zion hit him early hard. What I've noticed is that Montrezl's infectious energy down in the post has allowed Kuzma to steal the rebound from the other team. The other team is worried about Montrezl battling for the rebound and there goes Kuzma out of nowhere. Really efficient game and he's always in position off a double.
