Not so much him as a really poor mic and audio environment where he was sitting. Probably just off a laptop or something.

he was the best and most likeable of the youngsters over the years.

which is why he could be the centerpiece in the AD deal.

    which was still...just...so...great.

Yeah, love his game, would trade him every time a deal came up that included Davis. We had to do that trade, even if BI ends out with a longer career and is a first team all-star. There are really only 3 or 4 guys in the league that I might not trade for Davis and even those guys I would consider the trade.

yeah, i think it's a little frustrating that ingram got zero credit when he played here, as this thread title aptly indicates: we aren't that surprised that he's good. i think his shortcomings are still there, but he's really shored up his shooting. you just can't have him as your best player and be a good team. and we couldn't really play him and lebron optimally. and AD is just way, way more valuable.

remember, BI started breaking out in his last season in LA and then the blood clots happened. it was obvious he'd take that next step once he got to NO

no way NO takes that deal if its kuzma instead of BI. so no point in wondering how things would've played out with BI playing alongside lebron and AD

yeah, that was a false argument. nobody ever reported at any point that NO wanted kuz OR ingram. we were lucky to keep kuz, tbh.

Yeah reports had Griffin really high on BI, so he was gone for sure. As for the 2nd piece I wanted to keep Lonzo but Kuz was probably the right choice for this squad.

i'm not sure that was a real choice, either, tbh. and i'm not sure lonzo is much better, either. i'd have preferred to keep him, too, though.

Would have taken longer for the Eagle to soar above him for the reasons he would have under Vogel .... and then we’d have a-hole Lavar running his mouth to L.A media just lapping it up.

Lakers traded an all-star for a Hall of Famer. The other details were just fillers. Lakers win the trade. Even if the Lakers do not win another title, they won one because of it.

yes, clearly. anyone who's followed the league for long enough knows the trade is remembered by the name of the star for a good reason. this was the AD trade. in football, you had the herschel walker trade, but this isn't football.

even without the title, we won. because we got the best player, who was/is a hof-er in his prime. this just isn't something that happens very often. if you don't have a hof-er and can trade for one who is 26 years old, you trade the entire franchise. and if AD hadn't demanded, we'd have had no shot. if we had offered everything we had without his demand out, they'd have laughed very hard before hanging up the phone. this point is lost too often. we were lucky.

AND it already bore fruit. just no reason to ever revisit it. AD has a career-ending injury tomorrow and the trade was still 100% worth it. but the logic behind it is completely unassailable, and that's why the main folks arguing against it are nowhere to be found a year later.

edit: imagine the bulls call us tomorrow and offer us everything for AD: lavine, markannen, carter, 3 unprotected 1sts with swap rights in between. you hang up.

Is your boredom directed at this post? I found that pretty noteworthy and am curious as to where it’s coming from with 2 possibilities. Considering BI was always looked at as the all American focus on basketball “only” kid when here.

guess he's still bitter over the trade?

not sure why he would be considering how well he's played there. would he have preferred staying in LA and being the second option to lebron?

maybe he meant "exactly as talented as him".

and he'd be correct. lebron and zion are way better. but he played with russell, and i think that's pretty close to a wash, so...no, it doesn't check out on any level.

he was never the sharpest knife.

My boredom is directed at players who used to play with Lebron and now feel the need to take veiled shots at him. Our starting five consists of Kyrie, Ingram .........
