Trezz would be a top 20 player if he developed any resemblance of a midrange or three-point shot. This guy will bully 90% of the centers in today's game.
Hit a midrange early on 1st shot last night and form looked fine. Off a move. Have Penberthy and/or Handy work with him a little couldn’t hurt.
Montrezl Harrell says playing against Clippers conjured 'weird emotions' https://www.yahoo.com/news/montrezl-harrell-says-playing-against-193644270.html
Everyone neesd to realize that the Clippers do not USE Trez correctly in that Denver series. He shouldn't have been guarding Jokic PERIOD. DOc put him in at the 5 - bad move when Jokic is on the floor. He had his way with basically anbydoy else - but defensively he got eaten up by Jokic. On the Lakers? He will NOT be guarding Jokic - ever. Nor should he have to. The Lakers have players that can make up for Trezz's inadequacies - aka AD/Gasol, heck even Kief/LeBron. Basically, Trez may play "5" for us, but he will guard the opposing team's worse big - in the case of the Nuggets, he'll guard Millsap..in the case of the Clippers? He'll probably guard whoever is more perimeter oriented and not a post player - so he'll likely guard either Ibaka or Marcus Morris while AD or Gasol will take Zu. Idk why this is so difficult for ppl to understand - I think even Clippers beat writers have said that Doc incorrectly used Trez in that denver series and yet he kept going back to Trez at the 5 against Jokic. Truth be told, the CLippers just didn't have another option at backup 5...lakers though? We got Gasol AND AD. We're good.
Great motor, energy, and hustle. His style of play, he's going to get double doubles in his sleep. Lost size, for sure. But he plays bigger than he is. He might be shorter than Bron, honestly. Only issue I saw was he and the guards have a lot of work to do with timing and p&r. It'll come in time, but right now they've got a ways to go.
Based on the timing, guessing this is referring to the Kennard extension. Trez is going to be out for blood against the Clips.
LOL. Yeah man - what a joke. They went and paid Marcus Morris and Luke Kennard $16M per year EACH...after everything Trez put on for that squad...absolute joke. More motivation for him to crush it this year.
yeah, it's wild. feels like that number was right for trez, and he's more valuable than either morris or kennard. what gives there? i really don't get it. i said all the way back at the start of last season--four decades ago--that i thought that relationship was heading for a messy end, but i thought it was because trez would want max or some dumb s***, not because i thought they would refuse to offer him 15-16 per only to turn around and do it for (2!) lesser players.
Clippers head of analytics found Kennard to be much better investment and Luke will, in fact, defend better against Jokic.
well, they clearly feel that shooting was their problem last year. all their offseason was for guys who can make open jumpshots (ibaka, kennard, morris). i'm not sure i agree with their diagnosis, though.
He brings a lot of energy and hustle plays but you can tell taller and bigger players are going to give him problems. Any ways I just hope he eats up a lot of minutes in the regular season and keeps AD healthy for the playoffs.
Just not a fan of his at least not yet till I see if Vogel can try optimize him: you could see the paint is more clogged than usual compared to the Lakers typical small lineups and he's just not very good on defense. Plus if you don't use him in the PnR on offense you take away one of the biggest pluses to his game. The Lakers kept running AD PnR instead of Harell PnR and that made no sense to me. With AD shooting and relatively poor screen setting it makes more sense for him to be either spacing the floor or in the dunker spot when he's playing with Harell.
it was the first game of the season after a historically short layoff and not much time to build chemistry vogel will learn how to utilize these guys sooner than later and they'll learn how to play with each other as the season goes on
