Caught up on yesterday's game. He looked fresh and ready to contribute. Crisp calm free throws and nice shooting mechanics with vet confidence in his shot in J's. Liked how he meshed with the team and has a quiet menace on D like a great white shark, constantly moving and breaking down the opposition O in a cerebral way. Damn it Wes Matthews you look ten years younger and 30 percent better than Danny Green already. Oh and by the way f*** the Green Room podcast.
I ilke Wes - don't mind him starting and don't mind him off the bench. Best part is...he can start with KCP too if need be and we can run the same type of starting lineup that we had throughout the bubble and throughout the time that Bradley was injured. LeBron KCP Wes AD Gasol.
That’s the best starting lineup in my opinion. Gives us the best continuity from last season with better scoring punch, passing and D. I think Wes jr should be playing with the vets like Gasol and Lebron. Leave the young guns for the bench squad: Schroder, AC Fresh, THT, Kuz and Trez.
+1. I think Vogel will roll with that. Why fix it if it ain't broken, right? The only difference is that the bench is a lot more potent offensively now.
Starters should be Gasol, Davis, Kuzma, KCP, Lebron. Then if Kuzma stinks, adjust. I really think that lineup would be good.
I don’t think they will do it. Wes jr is a much better three point threat and a better defender plus a vet to go with the vets. I see Kuz continuing to come off the bench with the young guys.
I think he fits best with the starters for all the reasons stated above. Let the kids come in and do the bulk of the tempo pushing. Liked seeing him dive after the ball in the first pre season game. Getting after it even in a meaningless one.
I start Schroder/Wes/Lebron/AD/Gasol. Then bring in THT/Caruso/KCP/Kuz/Harrell off the bench. The second unit is as good as some teams in the East and gives a very different look than the first unit. I still think Schroder will start in order to conserve Lebron so he doesn't have to carry the ball up the floor every possession. If I'm being honest though, I'm not to worried about who starts or finishes with how deep we are. I just hope Vogel can be as consistent this season as he was last season with his rotations. I feel like that was important.
I don't think KCP or Klutch will stand for KCP coming off the bench when he was such a major contributor to our Championship. It would be kind of a slap in the face to start two brand new players to our system over him and I don't see it happening. KCP will start for sure. The question becomes Schroder or Wes. My bet is Wes for the reasons I've said before. But yeah, ultimately it really isn't about starting and finishing as much as giving everyone some minutes like you said. Vogel is pretty good with that.
Klutch should have no say, and he just got paid for his efforts. Hate to hear stuff like that even if it’s possible it’s true. it’s a good problem to have such quality depth to create options for the franchise. At some point, somebody becomes expendable when you have a developing talent like THT.
Yeah I like that lineup, I wouldn’t mind: LBJ/KCP/Matthews/AD/Gasol Schroeder/Caruso/Kuz/Morris/Harrell
Starters should be : KCP/Wes/Bron/AD/Gasol for several reasons : 1) To maintain a defensive identity, it's the key to repeat 2) We didn't get Dennis to mainly play him off the ball with Lebron ... but to rest Lebron and destroy benches with Trez.... 3) Bron/Gasol as playmakers are enough in the 1st unit
I saw Wes play for one quarter and knew right away he was perfect for this team. Rob will win executive of the year if the Lakers go 62-10.
i wanted wes last year (look it up). he's a perfect fit here. him and gasol on minimums is insane. it's nice to be in contention again.
