Thank you Dwight... him off the bench made us bigger and stronger than every other team. It became our identity as the season went on and especially during the playoffs. A humbled Dwight is the best Dwight.
would've preferred dwight to gasol but sounds like he got salty over the harrell acquisition and bailed immediately oh well. glad he was able to come back and make up for that awful '13 season and the way he left. who would've thought just a few years ago that he'd win a title with the lakers
"I've changed! But only for one year!" --Dwight (probably) He's a competitive guy that feels he has more to give than just token minutes. He practically was a 10/10 guy in like 15 minutes, and was SUPER efficient. His FG% was absurd. We really got the most out of his abilities while hiding his weaknesses. Just like in Orlando, he didn't appreciate what he had. Since there wasn't more money to be had, it was really a very surprising move. I hope he finds his happiness. Who knows, maybe he's back next year. he didn't burn any bridges on the way out of town, but two goofballs like Embiid and him could make for some great Youtube. I just don't see it equaling championship for them.
That re-signing tweet and then retraction were so Dwight, LOL. I really wish he had run it back with us. I absolutely was convinced that he would especially since we were really the only team willing and able to do so for a bit more than just vets minimum. He is married to a Sparks player and obviously things would have been much more convenient to stay in LA. But who knows with Dwight? At any rate, thank you Dwight for playing a very real part in bringing us a championship. I was one of the big time doubters when you signed (I was opposed to it) but you proved me and a lot of other Lakers fans wrong. Props to you! And I will always be thankful for your help in getting us number 17!
It was the WTF moment of the offseason, I wish he could have waited a day or two while we shopped Javale. headscratcher but probably his stupid agent bing petty
only took til year 17 to learn it https://www.thescore.com/nba/news/2...le-made-me-realize-my-stats-dont-mean-nothing
Check the article I posted in Gasol’s thread. He’s claiming he got no calls from the Lakers, only the Sixers. Do we believe him or Lakers beat writers claiming we were calling him multiple times weekly?
The article said that Doc was the only COACH that called him, which technically could be true if Vogel didn’t talk to him. I know Rob said he was calling him a couple times a week.
I saw that and wondered the same. Or well ..... if Vogel didn't want him back we shouldn't either. :Kiddspilldrink: Or ...... maybe that was proper protocol on the Lakers who do things the right way? udleyshrug:
Though ..... Yahoo who loves to stir s*** up ..... included "team" in its bold headline. Dwight Howard said Doc Rivers, 76ers were only team to reach out to him during free agency
Considering how the last two free agency periods went and what amount he signed for, IMO it's relatively safe to assume Dwight would still be on the team if he were any kind of priority for the Lakers. I'm sad to see him go, he was my last season's favorite redemption story by far and I will always remember him fondly after how he helped us win. Having said that, I trust in this FO, a LOT. I guess they wanted him to stay but other pieces were more important and he simply wasn't patient enough to wait for the official proposal. Still a loss but one I can live with. Good luck on your jurney forward Dwight, and thank you for helping us get No. 17.
