Good luck to Cousins. Bummer that we never got to have him play for us. Almost!!

I feel for this guy, his career got screwed. Was right on the verge of max money and reality hit hard. Would be happy if he could earn one more real contract, so he could retire in peace.

Yeah I don't get this, OR letting Dwight get away. How freaking secure would we feel if just Dwight was still on the team. But Marc is an upgrade as a starter and Harrell will be super valuable with what he brings so maybe the minutes would not have been enough to keep either Boogie trying to be a player again or Dwight having found himself as a player again ..... happy enough?

Haven't seen the clips of Cousins playing yet.

i like cousins, despite his faults. he has trouble controlling his emotions, but he's such a talent. i wish he took better care of his body because i think he could have been a mega star. so few people have ever existed with that combination of size/strength, agility, and skill. he's like a combination of shaq and rasheed wallace. slightly before my time, i'm told derrick coleman was somewhat similar. anyway, i like to see the best do their best, and i felt like cousins could have been something really special.

lots of folks threw shade when he took a paycut to join GS, but i liked it (check the receipts)--i mean, if these guys are going to degrade me, why not lay them all to waste? it wasn't like he turned down maxes or something--you losers had a chance and didn't take it. obviously, it didn't work out that way, but i understood his thought process there.

so when he joined the lakers, i also liked it and hoped it would work out. it didn't, and that's neither his nor the lakers' fault. i wanted to keep him because we'd have his bird rights should he return to 70% form (which is still an allstar level talent/impact, see: jokic, m. gasol), and that contractual detail would serve both parties in a positive way. when we got m. gasol, i think it just made sense for him to walk, but now he has to show big to get a contract, and the team that has him is unlikely to reap any benefit because playing well means playing himself out of their price range.

so, i think it's sort of unfortunate all around, but i'm not sure it could have been avoided without one or both parties making decisions against their own interests.

also, hate to root for a houston player. but i liked westbrook, and i like wall. i can't let harden's stink ruin everything.

    can i?

We're all rooting for Boogie to against the odds return to maybe 80% of what he was, get his pro basketball career back and finally get some kind of better paycheck again, I'm assuming. With Morey gone and if Harden goes too .... there's really no reason to hate Houston any more, right?

Especially even more if these hypothetical latest thoughts about the best Houston could probably hope to do if a trade were to happen. What do you think?

cousins looked good in the few minutes i saw last night.

edit: and it has been quiet on the harden trade front, so i'm curious what that means. really felt like things were going to be dormant for a while after the public statements from philly about not offering simmons (lie) and dinwiddie's injury mucking up any shot the nets have.

Theres rumors of a 3 trade involving Denver's MPJ and Toronto's Siakam with Harden going to Toronto. Siakam sat out yesterday's game and MPJ is sitting out today's game.

ah...makes sense. what does denver get out of it, though? pj tucker and some picks?

i'm actually not an MPJ fan, but to dump him after letting grant walk is a bad look there.

I think the theory is Siakim to Denver, Harden to Toronto and MPJ to Houston.

oh...ouch for houston. am i missing something on MPJ? he had a pretty serious back injury that cost him time and my recur, isn't much of a defender, and isn't really fantastic as an iso threat.

It would be odd to me for the Rockets not to get Siakam in this deal.

i like wall and cousins. houston is basically cleansed from most stench at this point. their owner seems a bit terrible, but their players, coaches, and management are no longer an affront to all five senses at all times.

I'm thinking Wall and DMC will only be a fraction of themselves this this, and Oladipo added makes 3/5 of their starters players that have had serious leg injuries.

Hope they end up with a good group that plays well together. I don't think they will miss Harden in the end.

I will root for this Rockets team for sure, turned from the biggest turd in the NBA to an actually likeable group in no time.
