And... his deal expires next season, so if something comes up...

Anyway, I think this a great move: fills a need and so much uncertainty with the guard rotation.
I know the advanced metrics show that Green was valuable but that's mostly regular season numbers frankly the last 2 playoffs I think he's been underwhelming TBH. He's saying his Achilles was bothering him but was this any different than his Toronto run? His PER, BPM, etc was pretty bad on both playoff runs and KCP was clearly a far better option than him

The Lakers one weakness was no one other than Lebron could be a playmaker now Schroeder allows you to hopefully James 30mpg and run a whole bunch of AD/DS PnR's.

Honestly: the Lakers will have a great roster just resigning everybody. Could care less about McGee: would look to see if Baynes or Gasol is available but otherwise resign Dwight, Morris, KCP, and one of Bradley or Rondo and this team should be set. I like keeping Kuzma as if you take away the expectations of being the #3 option, he's become a good defender who is still a threat on offense. Basically, his potential as a roleplayer is a lot higher than his potential as a 3rd star which is good for what this team needs.

I also suspect the Lakers really like THT with these moves: Schroeder is insurance and an upgrade over Rondo and Bradley. Need to re-sign KCP now and I suspect they're going to take an extended look at THT as the backup SG

    The moves fills a need.

last season also seemed to take a physical toll on Green. I think this was a good swap for us.

So, this is what it's like to have a competent GM running the FO.

this is a great move for us, Schroder adds another playmaking/scoring option and can also play decently off the ball as a 3&D if needed, adding more flexibility to our lineup.

I really like Schroder as a player, I see him as a borderline allstar now that he seems to have handled his off-the-court issues.

DG is a better defender, but sadly he isn't half the player he once was, so not a huge loss for us.

it's almost impossible to get a player that you can run a 2nd offence through and that can also play effectively off the ball with the first unit, but this is exactly what the FO did, while giving away next to nothing. Pelinka has done very well.

I like Kuzma but the problem is we almost couldn't play him in the playoffs in tight games due to his poor defense, and he's unlikely to get better at this point unless he moves and becomes a first option at a team like Ingram did.

he's won his ring, and I think it's a mistake to keep him, and it's also a mistake for him to stay, thinking strictly about his basketball career and where he can reach his full potential.

maybe we could trade him for a better 3pt shooter/defender also on a Rookie contract?

Well that’s the point, if you had a better 3&D player with a few years remaining on a cheap rookie contract, why would you trade him for Kuzma who is about to be a RFA next summer?

We're getting a guy that was in the running for 6MotY. You can throw all the DG analytics at me but he failed the eye test. And if it's just DG and the 28th, that was a great upgrade. And I like how early this happened.

I've heard of crazy contract bonus', but never something like this. His agent deserves a raise.

agree. his contract ending next year+us having his bird rights is also great. worst case, we lost the 28th pick in the first round. meh. in the short-term, he could shore up the team's only weakness from last year all by himself. this was a no-brainer, imo. i'm surprised okc didn't get better offers (higher pick). and again, i'm not even a huge schroder fan. but that's a talent upgrade.

could see another team in a similar situation but with a different kind of player. had we not gotten schroder, monte morris for kuz is one of those lateral type moves, imo.

a team that could use a 2nd scoring option, could use Kuzma better than us.

and yeah I don't think we're likely to get a better player out of any Kuzma trade, but we could get one who is a better fit with what we have.

It still amazes me how NBA players can do that.

I know it's not in game but still, making so many 3's in a row is an incredible skill to me since I never could lol

he hits 50% in game from that corner which is fantastic. Him from that side of the key he's over 50% even from midrange. He'll be over there a LOT this next year spreading the floor.
