according to their fan base they want to dump Wright, he's not a good fit n prior to Brunson injury, he was stuck on the bench
he was quietly a good player for them. multi-positional defender, strong ballhandler, no-headache locker room guy, always been a net positive in advanced stats, even shot 37% from three last year. he's right around his prime age. i'd love to get him (or someone like him). not to toot my own horn, but i said on more than one occasion that it wasn't necessary to have a third star when you've got lebron and AD. you need a bunch of really good role players and you can win. you look at say, dallas, and denver's rosters with all those useful secondary players--imagine those guys play with lebron and AD instead of luka and half a season of zinger or jokic and murray. anyway, this is thread is about green and his expiring contract, so i'll stop.
$15 mil expiring contract going to be very handy around the trade deadline. I am sure he will be motivated as well since its his contract year
I think he should focus on what really makes him happy. The Green Room. it’s where all of his attention is anyways
we're in a win-win with green. we managed to win the title without him doing much, and now he's an expiring who needs to play well or retire. driver's seat.
Don't you mean, took his talents to Toronto and won them the chip... then brings his talents to Hollywood, and wins us the chip
I wouldn't say HIS TALENTS won the chips. He is the Steve Kerr of this generation. Just lucky picking the right spots with the best players for that particular year.
I hope so, expirings never seem to be quite as valuable as they are made out to be, we've had plenty of them go full term here. Finding a fit financially, and a player(s) other team(s) need to move that benefit us more than DG getting the 15 mil often is just luck. I have not scoured the market and possibilities and obviously some of those get created as we go throughout the next season. But DG has been outperformed by KCP, AB and AC. KCP and AB have options and will be on their conference calls with their agents and Rob and they will use that fact for certain. AC is signed through next season and can't do anything about it bit for now. I hope AB's small performance sample size and Laker love will get him to take his option. The only thing we can give KCP is the 9 mil exception so what is the point of that when he can opt in @ 8. He is a priority but that would cripple us and he and especially Rich Paul know that for certain. Not to down the man for using his ring to fetch a nice payday. He was a contributor here in a Rick Fox way without any of the enforcer attitude (necessary in those days) but we need to penny pinch and get our precious cap's worth as evidenced by the request today for the NBA to waive the stretched money owed to Deng based on a career-ending injury (fat chance that gets approved since Deng played 20-something games with Minni after we stretched him). DG has been a bit of a weak link in our rotation players. He's paid to be a Shane Battier/Ariza/Iggy type but he's just not that level. I would hope that realization sets in on him this off-season and that management ans well as LBJ and AD get on him about conditioning and training for the next campaign. Oh crap just realized we have KCP's bird rights.
That's the type of stuff players always say when they play bad. The problem with that is Danny Green had a consistent level of poor performances all season. It got to the point where people who tried to be optimistic just gave up on him in the regular season and assumed he would turn it on for the playoffs because of his veteran and championship pedigree. Once the playoffs came, it was blatantly obvious that Danny Green was no longer the 3 and D player we all expected. His poor shooting continued and through the past few years, his playoffs shooting has been way below what a player with such a reputation should be shooting. 'Sore achilles.' LeBron played with a sore back carrying Danny Green. If I am Danny Green, I would voluntarily give up half of my salary back to the team.
