In the end it all comes down to, you can’t talk trash and be trash.

valid points across the board here...

on one hand, they aren't worth the time of day, and i understand the desire to turn your back to this thread.

that being said, you reap what you sow... nobody feels bad for them except poor skip... the aftermath of their failed campaign will keep me satiated throughout this entire offseason.

Reminds me of 2011 Heat. They got embarrassed. They also came back with a vengeance in year 2 though. They still won't be able to handle AD, imo thats the difference.

yeah, my issue with the clippers is the way they pretty much crowned themselves champs before the season even began. and their fans followed suit. both parties did nothing but talk talk talk. meanwhile, the lakers actually focused on basketball and look where that got them

i really don't have any hate for the clippers like so many lakers fans do. probably because the teams aren't real rivals and have never met in the playoffs. those early 00s clippers teams with miles and q-rich were fun to watch. and i was rooting for them in '06 when they had a good team

their fans just don't seem to know their place. they started talking sh*t when they became a contender in the early 2010s and this season it was 10x worse. but it's hard to take anything they do or say seriously when their entire franchise history has consisted of nothing but losing and early playoff exits. i mean come on, they've never even made it to the WCF

I still refuse to believe that the Clippers have any actual "real fans".

their fanbase consists of kids/teens who grew up during the lob city era, east coast transplants who grew up hating the lakers, and people who thought they'd stand out by cheering for the clippers

With Hollywood taking a hit I think we'll be seeing less people move here for "business". So the Clippers' fan base is going to take a hit. For transplants, the Clippers are like a fast food franchise - cheap and convenient when they're far from home, but disposable when they're disgusted by them.

They are not our rivals, rivalry does indeed imply there was some back and forth with winning in a meaningful way. That said, they brought this on themselves being cocky, entitled a-holes and by as a franchise putting up those idiotic LA our way and street light over spotlights billboards (as well as covering our banners during their home games). Anyway, some good stuff here despite it coming from the Bill Simmons podcast.

covering the lakers banners was 100% doc. he couldn't stand to look at that 2010 banner every game. now that he's gone, i wonder if they'll keep covering them

if they do, they're gonna need another selfie to cover the 2020 banner

I admit, I hated that they did it, but it was a pretty amazing move on their part. Like straight up genius to be honest. It didn't end up working because everyone thought Kawhi was something he wasn't (a leader). But the strategy was great and something that I could see being copied in the future. Granted the circumstances are rarely set up that perfectly for that maneuver to work.

I like Bill Simmons. He does exactly what a Laker fan in his position would do. I have no problem with someone being a fan of another team as long as they don't try to pretend they are neutral and unbiased. Him being a massive C bag homer is part of the appeal for me since they continually fall short and he is inconsolable. His constant salt is so savory.

Not enough ways to say how much I love that. Suck it Balmer, Clippersnake, Beverly, Harrell and Not-ready-for-prime-time Paula.

The 2011 Heat made the Finals, and had LeBron James. Things were always going to improve.

Yeah how do they fix that? Load manager can’t lead anyone with his needed less work and game play than any other teammates, and that dour appearing charisma-less personality .... and Paula if he even survives and doesn’t get his a** shipped out is not a leader either. He pisses teammates off and is conversely fostering division among his teammates with his personality. New coach, turnover in personnel and no natural leaders in their star players. They still have huge problems in those regards. So damn Beautiful!

I actually felt like they crowned themselves a dynasty. They walked around so obnoxious like they were the Warriors. Patrick Beverley even said as much to Steph Curry.

Good lord these people... And people scratch their heads at LeBron saying he wants his damn respect, like what he means hasn’t been right in front of their faces for over a year

I'm sure Bron and AD used it as motivation. The insult here was thinking Wayoff P was near AD's level as a player whereas there is a gigantic gap .

Plus an inside - out duo will always be a better fit than a wings duo and they oddly thought the contrary
