Yeah but he was a good fake. Kept us entertained while we were panicking and waiting for the season to pan out.

No s***, I was just catching up on this thread, haven't read it all yet but I seriously hope everyone takes a step back and realizes, none of you all are as smart or good a coach as Vogel. Give me a break, working Rondo back in gave us this series. Without him, the best we would be right now is tied. He single handedly won that game for us. I grant you, I cringe at some things he does, but he does quarterback the team consistently well. Getting him back into the rotation was a good move and all the Rondo haters, while having some ammunition were WRONG!!!

It's one thing to Monday morning quarterback and simply pick on plays that didn't work correctly and it is another thing to build a team and run it right, both strategically and politically. Both matter and there are longer term strategic goals. It is not always just a game to game adjustment. There can be bigger pictures.

    Vogel has been amazing.

I see that. That will only work if we don't convert. They'll have to come out on us if we do.
Get Zubac in foul trouble, then we can also take our size inside.
San Diego has a couple good wing defenders but we also have good D and more length. I imagine Javale and D-39 will see more time in the next round (capt obvious) so smack em in the mouth and grab rebounds. Dominate on D and run them into the ground. Time to put all this SD crap to bed !!!
Go home and take the Chargers with you.

San Diego?? Hey, we did EVERYTHING possible to run them out of here so they no longer reflected on us. They belong to LA and if I lived in LA, I would make a concerted effort to brand them the Inglewood Idiots!!!!

I hope he keeps the same starting 5 and rotations against the Clips.

Bron at the 5 against Harrell is when we can make significant runs

I can't say enough about how much Vogel has impressed me this series with his willingness and ability to change things up and adapt lineups. For years we've had coaches who just didn't get it. They stuck with one thing that they knew and didn't have that common sense switch as to how to work with versatile lineups: Boron, Mike Brown, even Walton. Don't even get me started on Antoni - who simply didn't know what to do with Pau or Dwight Howard.

I have to admit I felt into the fear that Vogel was going to be much the same. Throughout the year he's made good substitutions but at times he also seemed too attached to Rondo's minutes and during game one he seemed like he might be too stubborn to stop playing our centers and go with a smaller size roster to battle the Rockets. But wow did he prove me wrong. He proved to be a brilliant tactician in this round and was willing to change things up. Adjustments made!

I love our chances going forward. I'm going to stop second guessing Vogel and the staff right now because they have demonstrated that they are doing a great job. Props!

He’s an incredible “players’ coach“ on top of all that. Getting the best out of everyone and not giving up on them. (players we need to be key)

The craziest part about this team is there has not been ONE negative thing that has come out of the locker room all year. This is the Lakers, there is always something that comes out.

was just thinking that if Mitch had hired Phil instead of Dan Tony, he might still be here. Everything might look very different all these years later.

Jimbo wanted his revenge, though, so that resulted in 7 years of bad juju

Excellent post from AFireInside619 on LG

"How the hell did we “back into” Frank Vogel? He was seriously our third choice. The Lakers hard stanced him into a 3 year deal and Kidd on the bench breathing down his neck. He agreed to ridiculous terms, swallowed his pride, and was grateful for the opportunity. Some highlights for the man that GT/LFR called, “The right kind of boring for this team.”

Manage Huge Egos (Bron, AD, Rondo, Dwight, Javale, Green, Dion)
Got players to become a “star in their role”
Mostly limiting Lebron and AD minutes
China, Kobe, COVID, BLM, Bubble Leadership
Kuzma and Caruso’s growth as elite defenders
Calm on national TV after a 42 pt Rockets 3rd Quarter, already down 1 game
Has the stones to play THT in playoff games (and paying off)"

My guess is Kidd will bail on his own accord. The Lakers will give him a glowing recommendation. He coming hoping for the opportunity to be head coach but Vogel has solidified his position. He might be here for years to come.
