I think the gap between his game and hype has been closing.

once again, i think for most of us it was that he was viewed as god while ingram was viewed as s*** in the national press. turns out both narratives were false, as most of us were discussing two years ago.

i would actually say their nearly equivalent production vindicates lakers fans more than embarrasses them.

I can't argue against people who say that Tatum looks the smoother more finished product at a younger age.

With the superior defense, I get why people give him the edge.

But if Ingram has another gear or two, this might be a different conversation in a few years.

How many times was Ingram written off only to take it up a notch the following year?

If Ingram has finally reached his peak then Tatum wins... if he hasn't, which is quite possible if you look at his statistical trajectories, then maybe not

my guess is the gap stays going forward. but it's important to a) not forget that tatum is in a nice situation (good coach and system for his game) and b) a year ago, tatum did not look like this.

i don't think we can assume smooth upward trajectories for either player, based either on their own paths to date or the general paths other similar players have taken over time.

i'll be particularly surprised if ingram ends up defending as well as tatum does, though. tatum's a little stronger-built and has quicker reactive feet (ingram has a good first step on offense that doesn't translate to defense). i could see ingram eventually surpassing tatum on offense, though. he sees the floor better, handles about as well, and has a wider repertoire of shots in his arsenal.

tatum is the better player right now but BI is not that far back

BI hasn't proven that he can take over games like tatum can

I’m not sure if I would trade him for Kuzma or anything but he seems pretty solid

Bam... Doncic and Ingram already had the credentials heading into the season. Doncic wins it however.

Doncic said himself he shouldn't be on the list

I think Bam will get it cause of the Heat success

i mean, doncic improved, but...he was already an allstar (well, should have been, tbh), so...not usually what the award is for.

i'd still argue ingram just did the same there that he did here but stayed on the floor and got more shots.

it's a hard award to pin down, like many of them. you want it to be a guy who maybe addressed a huge weakness in his game that changed his value dramatically. maybe ingram's three point shooting qualifies there.

I’d be ok with Ingram getting MIP but then again, I always liked him.

Hard working, likable, chill, focused. Hard not to be happy for him.
