Yeah I don't know what everyone is talking about on defense. He's obviously much better this year than any in the past. That doesn't mean he's as good as a lot of our other players, but remember we have like 5 players that have been on defensive lists. Now his offense... it's like you said, and I've been saying, Kuz has it in him to be a 3rd scorer, but the's not being used like that, and looks like they're running next to no plays for him. I'm starting to come around to @JSM's view, that Kuz just isn't working with AD taking up all the offensive focus Kuz use to have. That doesn't mean I've given up on him, but Kuz hasn't been nearly as good as I had expected this year. That's partly on the coaches, and Lebron, but also partially on Kuz. He needs to want it and have the drive to force defense to be scared of him. I see Kuz thinking way too much out there when he has the ball in his hand. I think it's gotten in his head.
The problem is it's tougher getting a corner 3 because the court is much smaller on that side of the area. It's not like he can just strictly take corner 3's.
I think if he doesn't have a strong March...then he's not really going to make any drastic strides come playoff time. He is what we always thought he'd be...a taller Jordan Clarkson.
Give me Clarkson any day... That dude is a dog and can score. If we had him coming off our bench instead of Kuz, hallelujah!!!!!
yeah, if we knew the roster would go this way, clarkson was the better fit. but they're certainly similar players in terms of what they generally bring (and don't). it's why i'm not as concerned about his contract situation as others are. clarkson was paid about right, maybe a trifle high, but who cares at that point?
If kuzma was on a small market team, no one would've heard of him and he wouldn't be enjoying the level of exposure he has been. Guy is doing modeling or whatever other offcourt shenanigans while being an average player. Wouldn't have those opportunities if playing for Memphis or New Orleans or something
And the problem is he doesn’t realize it, but as he said it doesn’t matter where he plays because he’s going to get paid. That should make Lakers fans feel warm inside. [“Cancun! - said Van Excel at one time.]
Get you a** in the gym Goldilocks and fix this! Waay too many outside interests when you are a huge key to any unlikely "hope" we have for a ring.
so it's not just my eye. felt like he had zero confidence in that shot for a while now. he started bad, then seemed to get his legs, and now has fallen apart completely from out there. it's a problem.
Right—he’s better in a bigger role. Do we have that for him? huge three tonight in crunch time, and a really solid game overall, IMO.
Nice offensive game filling in for AD. Had more than his hands full with Zion on the other end though, but who wouldn't?
Played well tonight but I wouldn't say he is effective. He's coming off the bench vs lesser PF's. Guys like Zion would eat Kuzma up offensively as well. He's perfect at SF but if he can't knock his wide open threes down, he's not going to be a huge threat.
I wonder if you start him instead of McGee. He needs touches and that's hard for a bench guy whose not a playmaker ala Lou Williams or back in the day Odom. Now with Morris it's a bit easier to be able to run these lineups
McGee is filler. He's fun to have around but his lack of footspeed is going to be a problem in the playoffs when teams will go after him (ala end of the Orlando game) Dwight is going to get his minutes with Morris and AD's backups
