if he was 30 years old, he'd still be one of the few players on the team taller than 6'3" and able to play away from the basket, so...i think he'd be playing. a nearly 30-year old with almost identical offensive stats and a similar physical profile (covington) was the prize of the trade deadline. i'm not sure if he should be moved during the offseason, but i'd lean towards no, because his value will still be super low, as will his salary compared to his production. i'll worry about him not putting up more points when we have to pay him more than he's worth--which could be never, for several reasons.
You gotta to appreciate that he's really trying to play for the most part in the team concept. He'll occasionally take a pullup or floater which looks forced but he's either taking an open catch and shoot or has been mentioned is attacking the basket straight up. He's grown as a passer looking for lobs and the hockey assist. Definitely trying on defense as well. Just worried about him matching up against these big wings: they just don't seem bothered by him on defense. Hopefully his growth on offense will help offset as with Covington and Iggy it seems unlikely he gets moved
interesting. i didn't know ny was using him on offense that way--i don't remember much of it from the games i've seen of theirs (which, admittedly, have been few). still, not trading green and kuz for him. and if i moved kuz for him, i'd want a pick back.
That would be good for Kuz since New York is a big market. I can see this happening if not now, then in the off-season. I’ll assume Kuz will not be a Laker long term regardless.
Well on the plus side, we haven't made any overpays since the Godfather trade. Who knows what Magic would have done.
Couldn’t have acquired Morris for Kuz without giving up one of KCP/Green or like 1/3 of the roster. No move was the right move, regardless of Kuz.
Sure, there is; Morey proves it every year with is salary cap creativity. This is all moot now, though. Kuz puts up or he's out during the summer, IMO.
No matter how creative we get, how do we bring on $15M without giving up at least 3-4 guys? If it’s Kuz + KCP or Green, I’m definitely not making that trade for Morris.
I'm not a GM; but maybe include a third team, which the Clippers just did; like I said, it's all moot. Kuz is here now, and we will see how he does for the duration of the season.
morey's done it a couple times by taking people into smaller exceptions, then aggregating them to bring in cash. i don't think we had a path to that. i'm not even sure cousins's injury exception could be used that way. and remember, the league blocked some of morey's f***ery recently. they'd love to do it to us. kuz's low salary was always going to be problematic trade-wise.
Career 12ppg. Never above 14ppg until joining the pathetic Knicks. They got a nice role player in exchange for a nice role player.
No way you give up Kuz + Green + another asset for Morris. Solid move to stand pat by the Lakers. Let's see if we can add Collison &/or someone off waivers. It's Go Time.!!!
All good. Hope he shines the rest of the season; otherwise Kuz (signed and traded), Danny, Tucker, and the 1st are a package that I'd be throwing out there. Plus, our MLE to add any FA's
