Either he would score 200 points or the entire Rockets team would forfeit in fouling out of players.

dantoni getting his greatest dream fulfilled. this can only end in total vindication or total devastation.

i'll be pretty sad if gimmick smallball wins a title. particularly involving morey, dantoni, and harden. yuck, yuck, yuck.

Yup. Although I do admit this ultimate experiment in small ball is going to be interesting to watch. Not necessarily enjoyable, but interesting. Honestly, I don't see how they can win like that.

well, they're 10-1 without capela on the year, and they've been winning playing tiny lineups of late. let's just hope denver or someone can really make them pay.

technically, we should be able to as well. but AD would have to play center.

I personally don’t think it’s going to work in a series vs us/Denver to be honest.

The problem is, since most teams don't have decent bigs with a back to the basket game, they can't exploit small balls.

If a team had prime Shaq...I promise you that no team had a chance...Shaq would go 50/25 every game on 70% shooting.

But teams lack the interior threat. AD can do damage, but not with 18 foot fade aways...gotta stop taking pretty boy jump shots from the perimeter and put that on someone and yank it on them. But thats not his game nor his persona.

you can drive the basket, too. ironically, last year's team was built to blast a centerless squad.

also, this is anthony davis's shot chart:

    https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/anthony-davis-shot-chart

note where most of the dots are. he's taken 364 shots right at the basket, out of 750 total shots. this theory that he's allergic to the paint is just not supported by data.

Damn Russ traded to Minny for Wiggins and a protected pick.

Not sure that’s a positive for gs. They’re really counting on their player development here.

it’s lateral I think, but Russ wasn’t going to work out with Klay and Steph coming back.

now they can slot Wiggins at 3 next to draymond, and they just need a center.

Warriors sent Russ, Evans, Spellman; they receive a protected first and a second and Wiggins. I'm not sure how they get better either, but it did cut salary and grabs them a pick or two. I guess they keep on tanking, avoid repeater tax, and enter the next two drafts with some capital.

wiggins needs to dominate the ball too in order to be effective so same bad fit but maybe worse due to his lack of 3pt shot

I think he is mostly allergic to the paint.

His shots around the rim are mostly set up dunks and alley oops or fast break. He doesn't position himself in the paint with his back to the basket. And he hasn't shown a consistent post up game imo.

at the end of games, it's really hard to get post-ups like you're describing. and when you do, teams will double it out of your hands and create turnover possibilities. i think denver with jokic is the only team that consistently tries it--largely because he's such a great passer.

anyway, i think there are more ways to exploit small ball defenses than just planting big guys in the paint.

Pelicans beat Pacers 124-117 without Ingram or Zion. Are they injured?

Too early for The Hulk is really Mr Glass? Does he need to talk to Kuz about the vegan lifestyle? Too late for that? Whatever. Not the rookie year he and everyone else anticipated for sure.

I mean... I hate to say it again but: you can't be 3 inches SHORTER than LeBron freaking James and at the same time 40 lbs HEAVIER. He will constantly battle with injuries if he can't drop some weight. Not that he's fat, mind you. Compared to a regular guy he's incredibly fit and athletic, but one can't carry 290 lbs and just keep jumping and falling like that. Knees, ankles, toes... just can't take that kind of beating on a consistent basis. Not in the NBA where you play every other day pretty much.

yeah, i've said it since i first saw him in highlights: no way someone that big moves like that and stays on the floor. something has to give. maybe he'll learn what he can get away with; maybe he'll drop some weight. but his current body/game just doesn't seem sustainable.
