I agree with you guys, I thought it was a nice effort from Kuz tonight. Good to see. I'm still rooting for him to stay here.

Kuz gave a good effort in that game. His defense has improved this year more than anything else. It’s not the 20pts/game average I was hoping for this season, but I’ll take it.

He's trying to play the game the "right way" as Lebron says. He's trying on hard on defense, making the hockey pass, etc.

Would really help him and the team just to get him away from Rondo. Dude just messes everything up the Lakers are trying to do: instead of swinging the ball he call for a PnR and then holds the ball too long as teams don't respect his jumpshot. He can't shoot off the dribble well but because team go under he shoots it anyway. They should run the offense to get Kuzma looks similar to how the Pacers used to do with Reggie Miller when Lebron/AD are out. Kuzma is an awesome off the ball player but how can use that when a Rondo centric offense plays like LeIso

Kuzma MIGHT not be talented enough to be the 3rd "star". I'm starting to think it isn't an effort thing or an injury thing. He just might not be talented enough. Because I can see he's trying. His defense is good, his got good form, etc. But he just might not have the talent to make those shots on a game in game out basis.

i guess i've felt that way...forever? he's a good basketball player. he's unlikely to be an allstar at any point. he's unlikely to average 20ppg on a good team (he could do it right now on a lotto team--no problem). but we don't actually need that stuff.

Vanessa Hudgens is a step in the right direction away from the Kardashians..... in other news I hope he takes a similar step in his game.

We need to play Kuzma more and play him with the right guys - i.e. NOT with Rondo.

I don't know if he can become a star - but on this team, he doesn't need to be.

He needs to be a solid 3 and D wing. I thought he played well last night given his shot was off - but he also had some BIG buckets down the stretch. Just please play him with LeBron AD Green and KCP - that is our best lineup and I'm unsure why Vogel doesn't go to it more often.

Yeah: that's the most obvious finishing lineup we have. 3 shooters around AD/Lebron, all solid defenders except Kuzma whose been improving, good size across the board, AD allows you to play "small" ball and still have all the advantages of having a traditional big.

hes a scoring option efficient or not, he shouldn't change his gm because he usnt talented enough to.do other things....yes he can do better in rebs show more effort on d but if we force him to think bout passing to setuo teammates, i see it as a fail. Let him do what he did last yr, back screens, cutting n just going straight to basket...i seechim trying to dribble past his guy but his handle is so weak he gets no where, best bet is to improve his 1st step and just go straight into the paint

It's infuriating watching you guys bash another Lakers player to boost Kuzma. Rondo is going to be with the Lakers for the foreseeable future. Let's quit blaming him for every problem. The more plausible answer is Kuzma just hasn't been the player we had expected. It's fine for that to be the answer. I don't know how you guys can seemingly look for an excuse every other way for Kuzma but when KCP was playing poorly, you all hammered him down.

Totally agree with this. Rondo cops a lot - as did KCP. And they both play their roles well enough.

A lot of us expected Kuzma to be that 3rd guy for this team and he isn't and every excuse underneath the sun starts coming out because we drafted him and he trained with Kobe.

Why is this infuriating: it's not just the eye test but also the +/-. Rondo is the only Laker with a negative +/- with AD/Lebron: that is extremely difficult to do: you then throw a player in Kuzma whose best attribute is catch and shoot 3's and off the ball cuts and it's no wonder a lot of us just don't like his game and more importantly his fit with this team.

In addition, Kuzma actually doing a lot of good things on the court. HIs defense has been decent, he makes the extra pass, tends not to force shots, etc

Another nice night for Kuzma. He was red hot the first half. Cooled down in the second but still did good things to contribute all game. He's definitely improved on the defensive end and in making plays for others. Those were things he just didn't do in the past and he's adjusting and growing.

NBA Trade Rumors: Lakers Among Numerous Teams Interested In Robert Covington

The 2019-20 NBA trade deadline is fast approaching with teams needing to finalize their deals by Feb. 6 at 12:00 P.M. PT.

The Los Angeles Lakers are already championship contenders as it stands but as the deadline comes closer, they have realized they may not be as good as they could be. Teams like the Minnesota Timberwolves are far away from the 2020 NBA playoffs and may want to use the deadline to sell some of their more valuable players like Robert Covington.

On the surface, Covington is an absolutely ideal fit for the Lakers. He would be perfect coming off the bench for Danny Green, providing strong perimeter defense and the ability to hit open shots as a career 35.9 percent three-point shooter.

However, the Lakers are not the only team with their eyes on Covington as his skill set fits seamlessly on a number of contending teams, including the Los Angeles Clippers and Philadelphia 76ers, according to Ben Cohen of The Wall Street Journal:

A rapidly escalating arms race for this star role player is pitting the league’s elite against each other. As much as the Minnesota Timberwolves want to keep him, they’re a longshot to make the playoffs, and this might be the time to maximize their return on Covington. He has no shortage of suitors. The Lakers, Clippers, Mavericks, Rockets and 76ers are among the teams that have expressed some Covington interest, according to people familiar with the matter. Before they can battle for a championship, they have to bid against each other.

Covington is aware of the potential bidding war happening for his services and says it’s flattering to know that he’s wanted by so many teams:

It’s awkward for any player to know that he’s being ogled by half the league. It’s also flattering. “It is,” Covington said. “It shows that you’re a valuable player within this league.”

There are no guarantees that Covington gets traded prior to the deadline but with the amount of teams vying for his services, it’s hard to imagine that nobody puts together a package the Timberwolves like.

In any potential Covington deal, the Lakers would have to start with Kyle Kuzma and likely throw in others like Quinn Cook, Troy Daniels, and other lesser played role players.
