If Kuz is not someone you want to extend, then I believe he should be in play for any trade in any year that makes sense. The value in holding on to him short term was his contract, but long term it was his potential with LeBron and beyond. Being an inconsistent scorer is not much to look forward to long term. And that’s why I don’t have a problem letting him go for a Booker or Rose, etc. besides the concerns that people think those players would bring to the club. I would less expect a 4pt game from them than Kuz. That’s enough for me to make changes. His arc this year is not flowing from last year, probably mental and distractions, but ain’t nobody got time for that.
These are the types of games that give justification to the fans that advocate trading for Kuz... I haven't changed my stance, but if we get anything from him this game, we win, and this is what frustrates me.
Agree. The question is how can someone that was so aggressive last season, adopted a Kobe approach in terms of trying to be relentless, who likely worked on his game more this past offseason than any other, put up a 4pt performance in January as a starter? At the very least I would expect a player like him to be selfish or embarrassed enough to put up more points on the board.
To be fair: I think he tried way too much to be a playmaker instead of scorer this game. With both Rondo and Caruso out they ran some sets which he was trying to do the right thing off like a PnR and while his read was correct the passes were just off. Sum total of the non-AD games, seems to be he is a finisher not a creator
I'm just about on the verge of wanting to trade Kuz. His aggressiveness is so inconsistent, what's the deal here? One game he looks unstoppable, the next he looks lost. Trade deadline affecting him? If it's a rhythm thing, whatever, Cook and Daniel don't need rhythm.
Clarkson has been pretty consistent all of his career even if its not up to our standards, unlike kuz
Frustrating is the best word to describe him for sure. Inconsistent scoring, inconsistent effort, he’s a head scratcher. And I agree with JSM, I don’t trade him just to trade him, but I I’m for it if we can get a player that gets us closer to winning us a title this season. I also agree that I don’t think he’s earning a very big payday on his next contract. This is prime time for him to step up with AD out, you you can’t be having 2-10 shooting nights for 4 points and no impact anywhere else to make up for that. Not expecting him to score 25 ppg, but at least find a way to give us 15-18. I just get a weird feeling from him this season, like he’s not fully invested, as good as he’s been some nights, and I know he’s been injured a lot, but it still feels like his head isn’t fully on the court. I agree with Khmrp as well, I don’t even think Kuz has earned Clarkson money yet.
so...didn't watch the game...and i'm putting the flamesuit on...but...he went 2-10 in 27 minutes. but he had 7 assists from the sf/pf position. looks like he was moving the ball. now, maybe his d was terrible. but was it kuz's fault (and kuz's fault alone) that we made a terrible offense look like dynamos (btw, houston's next, and they've lost two straight...have fun...)? i'm dubious. but again, you all watched and i didn't.
I didn’t watch, but I need more than 4pts from him regardless of the circumstances. One bucket a quarter gets you 8-12pts.
7 assists generates at least 14 points. How many points does he usually account for between assists and his own buckets? I’d guess 16 without looking.
