Better game against NYK than we've seen in a bit. He's the only player on our roster not named LeBron that can rack up that many assists.

We're stuck with him for better or (more often) worse. He's BFFs with the top 3 players on our roster. He's in good with the coaches. He's not going anywhere.

Because of roster construction, we need him until we dump a "shooter" and add DC the PG. And even then, he will still be in a multiple guard lineup because of his chemistry with his teammates.

Look he went after CP3 and spit in his face and beat Boston, if he does anything note worthy this year or next, I'm still supporting retiring his jersey.

His problem is he is capable of passes that only a handful of other players can make. He doesn't care if anyone is where he's going to make that pass to or not or the 10th guy in the rotation can't make a catch that Bron or AD can, he's making the same play regardless. I do agree that his reaction time has definitely dropped off since Boston and he hasn't adjusted or accepted he's not that guy anymore.

He did make on of the most pinpoint post entry passes I've seen in a long time last month when he hit AD for a perfect assist. He's still very capable. Just needs to dumb it down and not try for the fancy pass every time out. On D, he's done. He can play the passing lanes and predict a few things, but he can't shut down anyone anymore.

He was our best 3 point shooter percentage wise I don't think he's 100% recovered from his injury. I think he'll get back to close to that and be significant by sheer necessity to spell a rest for Bron. If his 3 starts falling again, he's still an asset.

Rondo plays too careless. Almost looks like he is playing careless sometimes because he is thinking, its fine, its regular season. Maybe he wont make these mistakes in the playoffs.

this thread made me curious to compare turnover with Lebron, and then also assists

Certainly there are other factors that affect our perceptions of a player like:
    • Scoring
    • The eye test
    • Chemistry
    • Offensive flow
    • Fouls
    • Rebounds, etc
    • DEFENSE
but this is a simple spreadsheet that shows minutes played in comparison to Assists and Turnovers. According to
the data, Lebron turns the ball over more often this year, and assists only slightly more on a per minute basis.

Wasn't an attempt to give anyone kudos or bash anyone, but was just curious what the data showed. I would not
have thought it was that close actually.

It was great seeing him get into the flow of the game, hitting those open mid-rangers that he needs to hit, and making those extra passes near the basket.

As far as turnover ratios go, I'd like to see a stat that can incorporate a few more factors like how often a player touches the ball and how often a play is run through him, since as we know anyone who handles the ball more is more prone to turnovers.

Yeah, that stat is nothing if incomplete.

Rondo can play against scrub teams but he's literally unplayable against the elite teams - whether we can figure this out sooner rather than later is the question.

Rondo needs to be playing 10-15mpg against elite teams and then 20-25mpg against bad teams.

It's too easy for elite teams to make trouble for him: get back on defense to stop the early offense opportunities to prevent the early transition layups/lobs and then once in half court you have the dude guarding him lay off him and go under the picks to prevent the lobs. Once that is done he'll ballhog and either put up a bad shot or turn the ball over

Mark Jackson was effusive in his praises of Rondo last night...though I don't see much of it. If anything, he relieves some of the ball handling off James.

he had moments where he played well and moments where I'm like WTFFFF pass the ball!!!

    I have a love/hate relationship with Rondo.

Lot of good and lot of bad happening last night with Rondo in there. We just have to weather the storm whenever he comes in.

He dribbles the ball so much and just sucks the life out of the shot clock and offensive flow in the game. Ugh

Rondo came ready for Chris Paulina tonight. I've never seen Chris Paul look more intimidated... He wants no part of that two piece and a biscuit.

Get this bum of the court. Let him coach or whatever. Wake up, Frank. Come on. You must be seeing this...

    ATGROR

P.S. IDGAF about his almost triple-double. He can't run a team in crunch. Or at all, really.

I don't know what game you guys are watching. He was much better, actually, last game. This time he got the numbers but his decision making, especially under pressure ... UGH.

Kuz, AC, AB and others bailed him out, multiple times. He overdribbles, doesn't penetrate, doesn't run any plays...

The game I was watching, Rondo came out and set the tone from the jump. He hit some shots to make up a little for the scoring we were missing tonight. He rebounded the ball. He contributed big time to winning without our two stars on the road against a hot team. He may never do it again, but for tonight he was what we needed him to be.
