His pay is finally in line with his performance, so yes, that’s good. He was MASSIVELY overpaid the last couple of years.
now he does but he certainly didnt do anything good enough those 2 prior yrs to keep getting 8 figures
That's about the standard rate for a player these days. I'm sure that KCP payrate included a LeBron tax and that season he signed with the Lakers wasn't ever going to be one that we could really compete with so there was no harm done. The problem was signing Luol Deng which has crippled us with a ~5 million salary cap space that we certainly could have used this season. I mean, Tyler Johnson is getting paid $20 million and he sucks so it's not like KCP's contract, given that he was there to basically scout for LeBron, is notoriously awful.
Kcp’s were also one-year deals, which tend to be somewhat bloated and do minimal damage to the general financial situation.
There were reasons he got the contracts, but the value for what we got was poor. I don’t find that disputable. Nobody is feeling bad about it today because we are experiencing good results, but nobody was happy the last two years.
well, you're cool chinchilla like that I hate bad value for paper. It just bugs. If Dwight was getting paid 20 million, he would get more criticism. But he decided to take the minimum, and we can do nothing but praise him for the value he brings vs the cost. KCP is bringing fantastic value right now, and fans definitely appreciate it. Whenever you can turn around a fan base opinion of you, you're doing something right.
His 3 ball has been off the chart since December...he is at 43% now for the season which is amazing for him. Credit where credit is due. His natural instincts require him to shoot well. If he isn't shooting well and has his "selfish" moments with the utmost urge to chuck up a long ball, he becomes very frustrating but if he is making them, its all good.
Hope Bobby Portis gets suspended and fined for that... Dude cocked his arm and clearly meant to target KCP. It would have been a lot worse if KCP didn't find his landing.
KCP has been remarkably consistent. Last 10 games: 26 mins, 11 pts, 48.6% FG, 54.1% 3pt%, 20/37 3s made. Will be interesting to see how he plays with no AD and Lebron there. We might get a glimpse of knucklehead KCP since he will be asked to do more playmaking/scoring.
