we have his bird rights so if he plays up to that lvl why would you get cheap? boogie/howard aint getting anything more than vet min or 5m max for howard. n hell no would i get suckered into giving kcp another 8 figure deal
You don't think teams will invest more than 5 million for rehabilitated Dwight? If the Clippers paid that much for Zubac... they might even offer him more money. We can't let either center go to the Clippers or the balance of power shifts in their favor.
so? doesnt take away fact we have his bird rights n mgmt has never gotten cheap n will pay tax when appropriate
He's just getting healthy, and has played well 4 out of the last 5 games. I think we should let it continue before investing any energy into this scenario. He obviously wants to be here, and is on a cap friendly contract providing something we need. How he plays over the next 2 years will dictate what he gets paid, but I actually don't think we extend him early. I think we're going to take the risk of him wanting to come back, but he may need to know it will be after us going after a big FA in that free agency class. (Unless he becomes one of them) And he might, but he'll never be a Giannis.
You are aware there still are limits to what you can acquire. Otherwise Steve Ballmer would just buy everyone as his money dwarfs the Buss kids.
bird rights what part of that dont you get? it doesnt limit them, thisnis about kuzma, anyone after is limited anyways as ad/james/green make us capped out and all you have is tax mle $ to spend n vet min deals anyways
Big market teams are well of the repeater tax, and toe the line with it as much as possible to keep good teams together. When the time comes, it's up to Kuzma to prove his worth and value. LA has always been willing to pay the people they wanted to keep. Who have we lost over money? Shaq wasn't extended due to age and decline, and it wasn't working out with Kobe, so the owner made the call to keep the younger more marketable star and traded him. I literally can't think of anyone we wanted to keep that we lost because we weren't willing to pay. Stressing about nothing IMHO.
they didnt day we couldnt keep ingram, they said they didnt want to give him max $ which is fair cause this yr ingram wasnt going to grow here at that rate to warrant a max deal n also waiting on AD as a fa was destined to be another PG scenario....look at gsw they essentially have 3max (stpeh, klay, dlo) and there own expensive Green (draymond)
to have room for a max 3rd player, we had to be under the cap. The only way to actually pull that off meant any #2 picks had to go. Their initial contracts are worth too much. Turns out it wasn't needed and we didn't get Kawhi, but he was required for the AD trade, and was obviously the focal point of the return they got.
Right but that implies there still are practical limitations. I get what you are saying about bird rights, but it still impacts the whole of your cap structure.
I believe Dwight. That he is in love with L.A.(Lakers) and by all appearances having by far the best experience of his basketball career fun wise before he winds up in the hall of fame. And having redemption for his reputation and legitimacy toward the end of his career. Plus we could get creative. He actually has some screen charisma. But with whatever kind of Bird rights for the following year and whatever raises with incentives and stuff with what we can give next year personally I don't see him going anywhere. And physically, if not skills wise, I think the FO would prioritize him over McGee. If Boogie is going to be here.
yeah, lots can happen, but as of today, i think both parties would be interested in staying together. and i don't think kuz impacts anything. he's not going to demand crazy money, if for no other reason than he really won't be able to threaten that somebody other than the lakers is going to be willing and able to offer it. i think he's ours at a reasonable price if we want him going forward.
No one here is making any case to what Kuzma does well outside of being able to score occasionally. He's an inefficient scorer and that is becoming more alarming to me. His defense, playmaking, rebounding, and shot-creation for himself if BELOW average. So when he isn't scoring, he generates negative output. We have much bigger concerns than Kyle Kuzma to address. For the price we are paying, it's not a glaring issue. Imagine if he was our 3rd/4th highest paid player and we need to move salaries to make a trade. I'm sorry but it's gotten to the point where Kuzma has got to be better in his all-around gameplay. There is no "potential" anymore. He's turning 25 when next season starts. He should be near his peak at this point.
anyone notice ever since @RonStu started his Kuz batman nonsense that Kyle has been on a slump? Way to put a hex on our players vato
4th leading scorer tonight. Just what he need him to be. Just 4/10, but I think we all know the real reason the 2nd unit is struggling. We're missing the main guy. :Carusohearthands::Carusoshaka:
2 rebounds, 1 assists, and 4-10 from the field. He made 2 threes taking four attempts so that's a good thing... But man, he does nothing other than shoot. I just don't see the upside to his game anymore. He's turning 25 next season and has been in the league for three years after this one. What in any shape or form in his game that has seen a drastic improvement? He was so bad defensively that Vogel opted to finish the game with Bradley, KCP, Danny Green, LeBron, and AD. KCP or Green's spot would have been Kuzma's but he's terrible defensively and wasn't particularly doing well offensively, either.
I'd like to see him with a different initiator other than Rondo; he use to excel next to Ball. I think he's been better on defense this year, too. Let's see where he's at at April/May...IMO.
