I get the concept behind load management but Max is overemphasizing certain facts to fit his narrative.

If LBJ rests... sure he might be better off in playoffs... but the one thing the team has going is a psychological advantage that will start to get into other teams heads. If you are a 70 win team... that's an enormous mental obstacle for the other team to overcome.

However, if we lose the season series to Milwaukee and the Clippers... maybe the Raptors and Mavericks too... a lot of the psychological edge is eliminated.

So if we can keep this winning pace going, I'd do it not just because of home court but because of the aura of invincibility.

If we start sputtering or lose to those key teams... then I might rest him. Also, you want to be in the opposite bracket of the Clippers if you aren't the number one seed.

Also, if he feels bad... then sure, you rest him.

But if he feels good... I'd win every game you can for the mental edge.

Kawhi's situation is not normal... he has no choice but to play this way. I highly doubt any healthy player does this or you could just sit players out until the all star break and add ten years to their careers.

Definitely one of the worst near triple doubles he's had in awhile. After the first quarter he was the third best player in the game for us at any given time.

Probably hard to adapt to all the gravity missing with AD out. They need to get the others involved or all they have to do is neutralize LBJ.
Thank God for Dwight or it would have been even worse. But you can't just have LBJ iso every play... you have to trust the other guys' shots will go down eventually. This being said, no excuse for missing all these free throws.

 

Bad game tonight. To be that close to a win and lose is unacceptable. Up 3 with less than 4 min left is when you start clamping down the D since the offense wasn’t there tonight. The defense has been poor all 4 road games.

To be honest I give props to Indiana for playing tough defense. These past 4 road games have been tough offensively and I attest that to these teams being very good on the defensive end. Let’s be honest teams have been giving us their best since the season started.
