If they become stars in 5 years, and if AD suffers an injury, and if the Lakers sign another star in the offseason, and if if if if.......

Holy smokes. 50 points, 68% shooting and 4 steals? These past two games AD has been completely in the zone offensively. It looks so easy for him and it's so smooth. It is ridiculous. We should have had to give up even more to get this guy. I would have.

Cheat code... and a perfect teammate for Bron. If we get a decent PG (or Caruso becomes what i think he can), we could see another 5 seasons of this duo dominating the league. AWESOME

Holy dumbole standards Batman. Did dude just bait members by calling them dumb, after criticizing others (hmm can’t remember who) for being too combative.

Uh, Browdie killed his market and all but eliminated any competing offers that could potentially challenge ours.

You goddamn right we gave up too much. Still doesn’t make it the same as not wanting to trade for him. I mean you gotta be dumb thinking they’re the same thing.

Amazing to see AD score 50 that way. Thought you needed to shoot 25 3's and 30 free throws to get there.

And guess how many times and how far back you have to go to find a Laker with 50+ pts and that high a FG% .690?

    3x and 48 years ago to 1972

    1972 Kareem 51pts .742
    1970 Kareem 53pts .720
    1962 Elgin Baylor 50pts .690

Shaq's 61pt game just missed the list by a few hundredths so might as well include it for good measure. .686 is close enough

Also Elgen's only entry onto the list was a mirror of AD"s game with 50pts on 20 from 29 (.690) FGAs and 10 FTs made (out of 13 attempts from the line. AD made all 10 of his)

This was his 24th game in a Lekers jersey. Wonder what kind of games we can expec of him once he develops his game and becomes a true batman.

Can't wait to see Zubac try to guard him on Christmas. We don't have the personel to guard PG and Kawhi? Let's see how their best-ever defense can handle our washed & robin combo.

I don’t think Kareem was a Laker yet. Pretty sure that was on the Bucks, but your point remains.

yeah, no. he killed his market so that we could even bid with our second-rate assets. had we put even less on the table, i fully expected a pritchard maneuver. i can't believe you're going to keep banging this drum. i would have given up more. he was worth more. we actually offered more and were rejected before (!). we're incredibly lucky we even got a shot. he could easily have been sent to some backwater that was willing to pay to rent (like kawhi and PG were). we learned from some mistakes and came away with THE prize.

    win.

I dunno. I look at Lonzo’s 11 points, 6 assists on 37% shooting (11 PER) and can’t help but think we’d be better off if the trade never happened... #wegaveuptoomuch

This is why some of us were supporting the FO to do what you have to do to get this man over here; this is why...

And the funny thing is: there are people who are still bringing up the kids. I don't get it, and I never will.

AD is ours; he's a generational big man.

I knew he is a great talent, but it's a pleasure to watch him every night, and get to now how truly gifted this man is...

but let's keep rehashing and bringing up the past - and the funny thing is: so many didn't even want to tank; well; some of those drafts turned into AD...

The best thing is - him and Bron fit perfectly. They make each other's job much easier. No wonder Bron is leading the league in assists.

We’re incredibly lucky he forced his way here. Klutch and him were so savage, Davis Sr. essentially dared Ainge to trade for him and possibly even signaled Ky was out the door already. That showed the whole league what was up.

What we learned is that Nawlins has control of how we utilize our draft picks till 2027.

And we also learned that AD wanted to run with Bron and no one else. The Nets, Pels and Ky could have pretty much did what the cLips, OKC and Kawhi did in forcing a trade.

It’s ridiculous how much y’all want to credit the FO for what AD/Klutch did their gawd damn selves. They didn’t want Bron to waste year 1 of his LA deal. So they forced the action. Then they used their rapport with Griff to further grease the wheels.

Agree to disagree, but AD made it crystal ball clear he was ours from the jump.

From Woj on Jan 28, 2018:

"Los Angeles Lakers president MagicJohnson and general manager Rob Pelinka plan to make an aggressive push to acquire Davis before the Feb. 7 deadline, armed with confidence that Davis wants to play for the Lakers and would sign an extension, league sources said.

The Lakers are expected to talk with the Pelicans soon, league sources said.

After agent Rich Paul of Klutch Sports told ESPN on Monday that he had informed the Pelicans that Davis wouldn't sign an extension this summer and wanted a trade, multiple league sources expect the agent and star to soon deliver word throughout the league that Davis' preferred destination is the Lakers and he'll become a rental player until 2020 with a trade anywhere else.

It would be an attempt to depress offers in the marketplace, a way to perhaps make the Lakers' trade package more appealing.

    ...

The Lakers are willing to forfeit the flexibility of a max contract slot in 2019 free agency for the chance to turn a combination of picks and their young assets -- who include Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart and Lonzo Ball-- to acquire Davis."

Perfect fit. AD doesn't need the ball and he's also an elite player who doesn't need LeBron to create for him like Love did in that same position. Defensively, Bron knows he finally has someone who can defend the paint and cover his defensive mishaps. People said Wade was LeBron's best teammate but more accomplished doesn't make him better. In terms of fit and where they are at their career, Davis is by far the best player LeBron has played with.
