seems like he misses more midrange jumpers than he used to (i think he's at 33% vs. his usual 40+). not sure what's up with the turnovers. to my eye, his rebounding has been great. he's frequently yanking down contested defensive boards, including a couple big ones last night when they were trying to make runs. that said, his total rebounding percentage is down, particularly on the defensive boards, so...who knows.

it's also funny how much stock we put into the little differences. for example, his drop in fg% overall basically amounts to missing one shot per game that he used to make.

anyway, he's taking slightly more threes and making them at a higher rate, so his TS% is greater.

    https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/d/davisan02.html

his omnibus advanced stats are near career highs at this point.

so, yeah, he's still a megastar.

Yeah, just a curiosity satisfied I wanted to share. Thanks for posting your stuff too.
Lebron’s numbers seem more consistent, and AD’s all over the map, but perception is not always reality.

I would think having another superstar like Lebron playing next to AD would open up the court for him and increase his number across the board. That doesn’t look like it’s happened yet. I would like to see AD enforce his will while Lebron is resting. He’s a little too passive during those stretches for my liking. He’s a superstar, make the other team pay.

i feel like he's making the other team pay. if he upped his production as people wanted, he'd basically be doing things nobody has ever done. more importantly, he does need people to get him the ball in good spots, and we don't have a lot of options there.

our offense is lebron-centric--like pretty much every offense lebron has ever played in, regardless of teammates or point in his career. we have to live with it. AD has proven he can carry a load without another superstar, and he's merged his game pretty nicely so far here. as i mentioned above, his midrange shot has gone down the tubes for some reason, but otherwise, he's the same guy offensively that he has been.

Any colorable theories for why his rebounds are the lowest since his rookie season? Is it less time at center? LeBron gobbling up a decent chunk? Our team forcing more turnovers? All of the above?

(Edit: I'm not complaining by the way)

i would guess playing more minutes with other centers could factor in, but i'm not sure a) that's entirely true and b) if that's actually a good reason. he's further from the basket on offense, but his offensive rebounding percentage is pretty much in line with the past. the defensive rebounding percentage is down around 20 (vs. 27ish, typically), so it's happening on that end.

but yeah, it's not worth analyzing. it's not like he's not rebounding or the team isn't rebounding.

He's playing next to two good centers and a monster sized SF: i'm not worried about his rebounding numbers.

Lakers are 7th in defensive rebound percentage and 8th in offensive rebound percentage - rebounding for the team is a strength

Wait...AD still on the team, right? We traded for Davis and not De’Aaron, right?

Is Pretty Ricky traveling with the team?

Must be a new virus...chickenfox or is it smallcox...anyways, y’all get the idea.

Zo, you can still stomach to play #DodgeBall doe.

I expected his rebound numbers to be down with this roster. He's playing most of the time with legit bigs like McGee & Dwight, and LeBron is always going to rebound more than a normal PG. The FG% is a bit of a head scratcher though.

I think it's early and he's still finding his way in the offense. (If we actually have one)

The amount of fade away mid range shots have me believing it though. We need to do a better job of finding he and Kuz in motion to take advantage of their strengths. We are a very weak iso team. Lebron is very limited in iso moves when it comes to final minutes and teams shut the driving lanes off. I believe that will be our achilles come playoff time unless we are able to address it or get some really great 3pt shooting to open up the driving lanes.

We all .gif’d in our own ways. You’re a special type of memeber yourself.

But I ain’t doing anything here to be appreciated. Just here to talk Lakers & hoops. The less that’s talked about me, the better.

Getting back to AD, he’s the league leader in both blocked shots per and total. So that at least explains some of it in terms of defensive rebounds.

As for his FG%age, my guess is that it’s a combination of Vogs’ offensive system not getting him easier shots, combined with managing that shoulder injury. AD has a total of about 120 FGA where the defender is considered to have “tight” coverage (ie within 2-4ft) on the shot. That puts AD in a select few to have that many of their shots so heavily contested.

Could get ugly tonight, but woah if even slightly true... it’s absolutely true they dealt with us in poor faith last year and then made Demps look the fool after the fact.

What a game from AD, most points scored in the first return game vs. a former team!

    That's all folks!
