Karl Malone, who had a similar body type to Lebron (perhaps even bigger) was logging 36 minutes at age 39. I'm not worried at all.

lebron has also adjusted his game to be more ground-bound--i believe on purpose (he CAN still dunk pretty ferociously, but he lays it in an awful lot). but he's expending a lot of energy defensively, too, which adds more wear and tear. not sure how to fix that without losing a lot, though.

Also added the deep 3ball swag to his game. Not my favorite shot, but when it’s wet, he can go overboard with it without breaking a sweat.

Completely different roles. Karl Malone had Stockton feeding it to him down the post so he never had to worry about creating for others the way LeBron had. No one has put in more minutes and effort than LeBron has, ever. I agree that people shouldn't worry too much about his health. This dude spends millions of dollars rehabilitating his body for a reason.

Yeah, which is why his FG% near the rim is one of the lowest in his career. He's simply getting older but tries to preserve himself the best he can. He's actually one of the best mid-range shooters in the league right now so he's got many options to still get the job done.

Well you can argue Lebron never had to bang down low like Malone. Never played as physical as the 80s and 90s. And yes, Lebron has put in more professional minutes, but these guys have been playing highly competitive basketball since their early teens. I don't really buy the minutes argument. Age matters more and last time I checked 39 is 5 full years older than 34.

Malone would’ve loved to elbow Lebron in the way to the basket “accidentally “

Idk what NBA you guys are watching but it's literally a wrestling match down there nowadays when guys are trying to establish post position. Back in the days you used to be able to just walk into that s***. Go watch the film and sample a random game from the 80s and 90s and sample a game from the modern era and see how much uncalled contact people get away with nowadays in the post lol.

That banging in the post is folklore that oldies like to use to say that the league is softer. There were just more post plays back then so guys were always constantly in the post. But I mean c'mon now, they weren't going WWF down there...

I’m constantly disappointed by Lebron’s limited arsenal of shots down the stretch in the paint

His best play is literally to draw attention and pass

down the stretch with the ball in his hands in iso feels like a total crapshoot. For goodness sakes, CP2 is guarding you, and all you can manage is a fall away jumper?

playoff bound teams are watching and scheming. OKC should not be that close to us in any game really.

OKC has already lost a lot of close games to good teams and has had one of the toughest schedule . It is a better team than its record suggests.

I agree Bron decisions down the stretch were very poor though .

Got to have another purpose than just running the clock down and taking contested long shots

I thought his passing tonight was pretty magnificent. That long bomb to AD for the reverse was a thing of beauty.

Lebron not willing to take CP3 into the post was annoying.

Possibly should have lost that game with Lebrons awful decision making down the stretch.

That plays not really fair imo. Dennis Schroeder was literally just jumping around in the paint like a mad man for 7 straight seconds. LeBron didn't take it because he was trying to time up his drive for when Schroeder had to cleanse himself, but he never did. It was painfully obvious what was happening in real time. That's why LeBron flipped out on the ref after. Still a crappy possession though.

Looked like it should have been 3 seconds to me, but that was only one play of many I questioned down the stretch

The Lebron we’re getting this year is so vastly different. Granted, we obviously have a better team, but damn he’s so good, especially at his age.

They should be sitting him on these back to backs. His burst seems to be less last couple of games and it's a long season

He didn't "look good" for LBJ's crazy standards but still puts up 30/6/4 on a back to back. Bron has that Magic/Bird-esque quality where he can roll out of bed and impact a basketball game because of his bball IQ. With that said, I agree he should rest at some point.
