Why do they put him on star wings? At least Kuzmas defense has been solid. Butler went to town on KCP just like Leonard in game 1. He is not a stopper and barely a speed bump against these caliber of giys
As bad as KCP is playing, Troy Daniels is shooting 27% from three (lower than KCP) and doesn't really do anything else offensively and is terrible defensively. Gun to the head, I'd rather have KCP right now than Daniels. Only upside to Daniels is you hope he breaks out of his slump but the guy takes over 4 threes per game. Outside of that Utah game, Troy Daniels is 3-17 from threes since then. The dude has been terrible.
But that’s the thing, he doesn’t do much else and that’s good. He stays in his lane, he’s not making idiotic passes, he’s not chucking as soon as he gets it, he’s not airballing layups. I’m not sure I’ve seen a player with lower BBIQ than KCP in a long, long time. Daniels may not ADD a whole lot, but I still prefer him out there over KCP because he’s not actively doing stupid things and having an immediate negative impact on the game. The minute Bradley checked out of the game and KCP came in things went downhill, he is so freaking awful, and we have seen this now for a few years. I know how he keeps getting money, but I don’t know how he keeps getting all this playing time, everyone he guarded had their way, and Butler flat out abused him late.
The answer is simple: Quinn Cook and Troy Daniels aren't better at KCP other than shooting the ball. It's tough to realize that but Quinn Cook and Troy aren't much use out there either and KCP is still a better defender than those two. It's why Rondo coming back is key for us at this point because if Caruso is struggling, we literally have no backup playmaker to create for anyone. KCP is awful, no doubt about it. But we have a lot of awful performers on this team right now that were expected to be valuable contributors and it just hasn't happened, yet. If Quinn Cook and Daniels knocked down their wide open shots, they would be on the court instead of KCP. I mean, Caruso has been God awful as well but he's earned his playing time by being able to defend 2-3 positions while also making some decent plays. Take a look at KCP, Cook, Daniels, and Caruso. It's not like we've got a lot of options out there that can perform consistently. Until those others step up and Rondo comes back, we need to just accept that he's playing those big minutes because those other guys aren't providing any good minutes, either.
Caruso has not been God awful. WTF? @BangBoomPow We play well with him in there. He's just not scoring a lot right now.
Caruso has been god awful? He checked in to close the game and immediately scored and got a steal and we never really looked back. He isn’t a star but he’s been fine enough on offense and very good defensively. I can’t argue about KCP, and Melo, and IT, and AD being soft anymore tonight haha, we won, we held the Heat to 80 points, I’m going to go enjoy the win and relax. I especially can’t get into a Rondo coming back will help us discussion right now. He could, I sure as hell hope he does, but if I’m counting on it I’m setting myself up for disappointment.
I've said his defense and intensity is why he's been getting the minutes but let's not pretend like a few plays is enough to consider him as someone who can run our offense when LeBron is on the bench. I mean, you guys are acting like the guy is running an elite offense or something. Look, our defense is what is winning us games. Our offense has been poop. I'm afraid if we play against teams where their offense can make us pay, we won't be able to rely on our defense enough. Caruso isn't playing well, either. He's just playing better than the rest. When you have KCP, Cook, and Daniels all shooting 25% from three and their role literally being only to shoot, of course Caruso will stand out when he's playing solid defense and puts in some power dunks.
Then stop it and sweating his shooting right now. He's making good passes, gets in the lane occasionally, takes care of the ball most of the time, moves off the ball, can finish around the rim and is playing good smart defense. Vogel had him in to close the game. But he's been God awful and you're pining for freaking IT? Oh and Harden over AD. LMAO!
That guy is a buffoon. He was trying to say AD is only good for put backs and lobs. Then he started calling people names and then it was time to end his existence.
This makes no sense. Cook and Daniels at least have gravity: as a defense you have to account for them and has been noted they don't do dumb things. When you have AD and Lebron that's basically all you need. KCP I don't know what he brings: he's not that great of a shooter, he can't finish, he makes dumb plays, and his defense has been awful. In other words, it ok to be neutral but not be a negative which he has been. Kuzma at least on defense has stepped up (he's the only Laker who's been as equivalent to KCP in terms of awful on offense)
You know it’s bad when the other teams fans are hoping you leave KCP in the game. I’ve seen this numerous time now when doing Doom.
You should put that in the Official Zach Norvell Thread I created. I think he will get a shot around Jan.
What in Troy or Cook's game has been neutral? They're not good defenders and aren't shooting the ball well. Seriously, none of you have answered the obvious: Who gets KCP's minutes? Troy or Cook haven't been better than him and there is nothing you say that voids that. "As a defense, you have to account for them." Yes, I'm sure teams are leaving KCP wide open... It's the easy thing to hate KCP because he's becoming a meme but he's not the only one playing terrible. I'm all up for sitting KCP if we have better options. Point is, we don't. Not until Rondo gets back and hopefully the shooters find their stroke.
I'm not sure about that. Cook and Daniels are probably right there with KCP. All three have had spurts of good offense. All three have had long, Sahara-ish dry spells. The difference is KCP does things at really inopportune times. I have watched almost every minute of Laker basketball this season. Daniels and Cook will miss a shot. KCP will inexplicably foul a guy for no reason and kill momentum. KCP's mistakes usually change the flow of the game. Lebron, AD and Dwight have been so dominate that we can push through his momentum killing blunders. If we just look at the stat sheets after games, KCP, Cook, and Daniels aren't really that different. In fact, KCP looks better than the other two. But if you watch the games, KCP's mistakes are usually at key junctions of the game.
