LABron James Discussion: Olympics MVP

I'm not a fan of calling oneself a King. I've expressed my feelings for that type of stuff ad nauseum here before.

But he is playing the kind of defense I'd expect from someone with his abilities.
He's mostly playing up to his abilities overall.
It's crazy trying to be a full time PG at his size and mileage at this point in his career.
He's playing more minutes than I'd like
Yes, he's a turnover machine, but the PROS so far outweigh the cons, you just have to accept that it's part of the game. Any player that handles the rock that much is going to have turnovers. See Kobe.

We're a little too reliant on him for my taste, and if a Kawhi kind of player can neutralize 50% of his game in the playoffs, we're in for a world of hurt if others are not ready to step up.

Dude has undeniable holes in his game, but at the age of 35 just put up 3 consecutive Triple Doubles. HE's truly a freak of nature, and a very gifted once in a generation type of player. I'd prefer he was a little less narcissistic or dare I say more like Dwight.

As a counter point you presume to dictate to LeBron how he should play. We're not necessarily asking him or forcing him.

You don't think he wants to play this way? He sees himself as Magic Johnson, an idol of his. And he's legitimately there in a different way but similar stats with the assists, even now, with the same crazy size and even more strength.

He has always wanted the ball in his hands. He's already dialing back the in the air spectaculars and saving himself physically from that so often ...... and adjusting to a smarter and more skills oriented style of play. You think he doesn't want to play at least 32-34 or whatever minutes a game? He's going to play what he wants to play just like Kobe. He's chasing history and Kareem for the all time NBA scoring title.

Kobe wanted to play 48mpg. These superstar types need to be reined in, otherwise it’s Achille’s redux.

 

I don’t recall seeing you post about using the nickname “King”. It fits LeBron perfectly. In a nutshell, what don’t you like about it?

He's 35 this year. Did we not see Kobe or more recently Durant just tear his Achilles?????

We need to monitor him very closely and sit him out if need be.

 

Minutes yes and occasional days off. Was more referring to him over his career wanting to have the ball in his hands. And him wanting to be out there more than 30 when the game’s close and winnable. Understand the load managing.

 

The best thing about Lebron compared to Kobe is that Lebron will take a rest if he feels his body needs it. Kobe will play through it and potentially suffer a worse injury later on.

Loved that about Kobe but it really started affecting him later on in his career when we weren't contenders anymore. We're contenders this year and need a healthy Lebron for the final push.

 

It’s not entirely about his minutes tho. It’s how he uses those minutes.

Bron’s usage in the 4th quarter is 36.5% (playing 62mins out of a possible 84mins in 7 games worth of 4th quarters). He avg 31.9% for the game. So we rely on him heavily to close.

And look at the dude’s ahead of him. Harden & Rose are the oldest at 30 & 31 respectively and what’s their postseason resume look like again?...Bron about to turn 35 and is just one June removed from showing up to 8 consecutive trips to that b****.

Its just too much and it’s not sustainable. I hope that we can continue to accumulate wins during this fairly easier portion of the schedule and our home stand. That way when we go on those lengthy Grammy/award season road trips, we can rest our main guys so that they are fresh to close out the season and enter the playoffs riding a wave.

As for Bron wanting the ball in his hands...yeah he’s good with it. But he works better if he has someone dependable on the wing to share that load with. Just ask Dwayne and Kyrie about how Bron wants to always have the ball in his hands. You got AD playing that Bosh/Love role, but who exactly is helping Bron on the perimeter (and don’t you dare use Caruso’s name in vain)...and Bron is much older with wear and tear now than with those triumvirates.

 

Comparing minutes is a worthless statistic. You need to compare how much energy they are expanding. As it looks, LeBron doesn't have to put as much effort because he's naturally bigger and taller than Kobe. It was easier for LeBron to get what he wanted out there. Kobe had to expand more energy to do what he needed to do. LeBron is also an anamoly. Clearly age will stay undefeated but if there is one player who has ultimately defied the odds thus far, it would be LeBron.

 

So, before LeBron's groin popped, is he thinking about rest at that point?

Probably not. Point? When you have as much mileage as he does, there is a higher likelihood an injury may occur; that is why the smart approach is to take precaution moving forward...

 

Not debating your point LVBD. But I still maintain very shortly before he popped his "groan" .... maybe one or two games .... he slipped on a wet spot and did really wide, nasty looking splits. He stayed down a bit and it clearly hurt a lot. "Could" possibly have started the injury at that point. Again, typical, random, basketball s*** injuries. Jump up come down on someone's foot and wreck an ankle at the worst possible time. Throw your hand and arm out to deflect a pass and bust a finger. Get taken out of the air and land wrong. OUCH.

 

Chances of rolling your ankle walking down a street vs chances of rolling an ankle with an extra 5mins on the court.

Oh btw, the individual in question is not wearing BBBs in either scenario, cause it would f*** up the population within the incidence equation.

 

I almost don’t know if I’m to take this seriously or not. Lebron May be the most narcissistic player to ever exist, and the stuff that has fallen out of his face has been so completely clueless and egotistical that it’s legendary. Very self unaware how poorly he comes across.

I actually had a website IhateLebron.com that I took down after him becoming a Laker out of respect for my peers. I do my best not to suck joy out of the b-ball fan experience, but I’ve never been a Lebron fan mostly because of how he presents himself. The amount of material he provided for the site was fantastic. Normal comments from him are laced with lots of I’s and Me’s. I’m not going to rehash that if you never saw it or picked up on it because really, what’s the point? He’s ours now.

King denotes royalty - aka better than you and everyone else

I understand if others decide to crown you with the nickname, as you can’t control that. I think it’s a more humble and likable approach to not run around reminding everyone you’re the king. Just let your play do the talking.

As a player, he’s fantastic. As a father and husband apparently a very solid guy. In his community he’s an activist. As the son of a single Mom, he’s an overcomer. Lots of people look up to him with good reason.

Lots of fans have disliked him over the years for a myriad of reasons. You can look up flopping compilations starring him, and see such a stark contrast between he and a guy like Kobe we were privileged to root for. As a Goliath in the sports world, he’s easy to root against if he has to resort to cheating to get calls, respect level goes down immediately, and you find non legendary players calling you a b**** tho.

I’d say he’s maturing and probably more likable than he’s ever been at any point in his career. I haven’t seen a Laker flop yet actually. We’ve seen a few clutch moments vs his ball shrinking past.

In Short, he should have always taken his Moms advice and not talk about it, just Be about it.
But if Dwight can become a fan favorite, there still hope for ring chasing, fan jersey burning inspiring Lebron.

 

Yeah. But he has been a good citizen here so far and had great body language on the court and in support of his teammates. Seems totally over the flopping phase unlike the cheater with the fugly beard. Is CP2 still flopping? .... no idea.
