I was one of the biggest Randle fans here. I definitely didn't like him getting jerked around for PT and thought he should start over Nance. I had hoped we could pair him up with Lebron but yeah, that stuff is long past us and his agent wanted him out once it became clear we weren't going to include him in future plans. We are in a MUCH better place now with AD here. Sucks for Randle but he needs to get over himself.
I personally think you shouldn’t expect a return till mid Nov. EDIT: Comments/insight from Kuz via McMenamin.
Yeah I think he knows he's worth much more than his contract. He's seeing guys around the league with less talent than him making much more. That being said, I still don't like the tweet. 3.5 is still life changing money.
Alarmed? I'm not sure. I just expect injuries to Laker players to take an inordinate amount of time. There's a dude in my office that has the exact same injury and his doctor told him to do absolutley nothing for a month. If he goes out and does anything, it pretty much resets the clock back to zero. I am concerned he has a Jones fracture and they just aren't telling us. Granted, he'd have had surgery day one if it was a Jones fracture.
this is what i mean--i feel like there's a history of this sort of thing, particularly in this organization, but in others as well. "stress reaction" can be used to refer to lots of things--maybe he's got signs of a stress reaction that could grow into a jones fracture, for example--or something like this (i'm not an orthopedist). just feels like he's going to miss major time, one way or another.
The way my buddy at work described it, it's essentially noticeable on the xrays as something wrong, but it hasn't actually cracked yet. If he's having the issue in the Jones fracture area, I would hope they would just put a screw in it as a preemptive strike. Jones fractures, if not acute, can keep coming back without a screw in the foot to stabilize the area. I had a Jones fracture. It took longer to fully heal than when I broke my tibia clean in two. And yes, I did have surgery on the Jones fracture.
yeah, my mom had a jones fracture, too. then she had some sort of stress reaction-ish thing in that area that ended up requiring surgery as well (perhaps as you're suggesting). in any case, it seems like a long time for what was initially considered a minor issue.
He's progressing so I'm not worried about it. He's getting closer to playing and he hasn't had any setbacks. If he does then I'll be concerned. Sounds like he's on track to come back within a few weeks.
I'm in dept to @RonStu for turning me on to the Google search engine. Who knew? So to learn myself what a Jones fracture is I went a lookin' on the internets. Images of pain ..... Especially enjoy the ones with freaking screws drilled into your freaking little bones down there. Jones fracture
They should just give him a few more weeks off, announce that he will be out for that amount of time and let him really heal up.
@abeer3 yes I'm 100% concerned that it's taken THIS long just to come back from a foot injury. Here I was saying how great it would be for Kuzma to get that USA bsaketball experience and now he's still fricking OUT while his other Team USA counterparts are all healthy and playing! Unreal that it's taken this long - I also fear it's something more serious than we can see right now and that he'll end up being out for a lot longer - I Just hope he's back before effing Paul George.
