Anyone with common sense could tell you that. There are very few complete protein sources outside of meat. Quinoa is one of the only ones I can think of. And it would take a metric ton of quinoa to get the amount of that complete protein you would need. If you ate 8 oz Tilapia, that would be roughly 60 grams of protein. In order to get that much protein out of quinoa, you'd have to eat 7 freaking cups of it. This is the problem with the internet. There is someone out there who has written an intelligent sounding blog about just about any subject matter. Whether or not it's factual is beside the point. If someone gets an idea in their head, they can get "confirmation" from someone that sounds reasonable and intelligent. Kuz probably had a girlfriend tell him he should be vegan, so he googled "can high level athletes be vegan?" and he found a blog by some 65 year old female hippie with long gray hair to the middle of her a** that makes homemade candles in a trailer. She probably made a compelling case using feelings and auras.
i'm no nutritionist, but i'm pretty sure we evolved as omnivores, so cutting out meat entirely could have some consequences, at least in theory. bravo for being kind to animals. i don't have the stomach for it. or something like that.

Gun toting politics aside, do we crave to hunt our food? Tear it raw, limb to limb using our hands and teeth...that’s only if we catch up to said wild meal at all. The only Laker fan that I know of is this guy... Meanwhile incidence of heart disease, various cancers (including, but not limited to the GI) and diabetes is higher in humans that eat meat...and that’s cooked meat. Meanwhile biting into a raw fleshy eggplant (no homo) or a stubborn nut (maybe omni) ain’t no problem. Various camps will lean one way or another, but I’m leaning towards herb. Anyways, Kuz just do you, but stay off the lean. #WhenYouBoosYouLose (or is it the other way around?)

People can make a graph like that that seems scientific, but the actual scientific journals say otherwise. Like the guy in the article says, I'm not saying being vegan is bad, nor am I saying it's unhealthy. But we did not evolve as herbivores, nor is it healthier to be one. And as a professional athlete, Kuz should be making it as easy as possible to get the proper protein and nourishment he needs in the most efficient way possible.
thanks; was too lazy to get all the way in it, in part because i admire folks who can refrain from meat for the sake of animals' lives. but i'm pretty sure most evidence points to the fact that we've been eating meat as a species for a VERY long time. not to commit the naturalistic fallacy, but it probably means something. my dad always thought bill walton's injuries came due in part to his diet shift. no way to be sure, though.
For sure. I do admire someone who doesn't eat meat because they are trying to save animal lives. But it doesn't seem like Kuz is doing that. It seems like he believes meat is bad for you which is simply not the case. Too much meat is bad, and processed meats are bad...but processed ANYTHING is pretty bad. But red meat is also the best source of creatine which is huge when building muscle mass.
