Yeah, our post D is incredible. But the Nets (everyone but their centers) torched us from downtown. Both bigs have the length to cover and still allow one to patrol the paint. Not to mention, the other can crash the rim when the ball goes up and literally get there in 2 steps. I'm going to chalk it up to a kink that will get tuned up, but got highlighted in an ugly game in China. Don't know if it was jet lag or everything surrounding the game, but it wasn't pretty out there.
This can def be an issue this season but I think its fixable. Gotta see if vogel is good at adjusting
It’s very fixable. We have some smart defenders on the perimeter. They just need to learn to trust the inside coverage from our bigs. Close out deep on shooters and dare them to go into the paint and get blocked
I think once a starting crew is finalized and they can begin building trust and chemistry on that side, that'll help a lot. I think Green is our perimeter defender leader. He sets the tone outside of the paint. There's no need to play him in any lineup that doesn't feature the starters. It's McGee, AD, Bron, Green, and ?. Rondo, Bradley, or Bald Eagle Mamba. To me that's the only position battle. Currently I'm going to take a very unpopular opinion and start Rondo BUT stagger his minutes very heavily and be strategic with his usage. Until we catchup on communicating on that end, having someone who talks, directs, and coaches on the court will accelerate the learning curve in our favor (even with his defensive play and acumen not being on the same page any longer). Even if he's only in there for the first 4-5 minutes of the 1st and 3rd period, just help us get settled in. Then as others get more comfortable or Bradley can give us anything offensively, we can adjust as the season progresses. I haven't forgot about point guard Bron. But I really don't see that as anything more than for small stretches or if they're trying to work Kuz onto the floor more.
A platoon of low minute high burst centers helps in defending the perimeter too. And you cover AD’s health during the regular season. Win-win. I’m shocked Noah hasn’t been picked up yet, but having him McGee and Dwight would be ideal. Sorry but dump Daniels for him or Iggy...and if it’s both, bye Dudz.
udleyshrug: LOL. WTF is his injury ... why we haven't seen him? Cook? Kostas? Bunch of pusses like Kuz.
lol its preseason. hes testing out different lineups. we will find out how good of a coach he is when the actual season starts and how he adjusts.
Actually, they did a lot of good things from an Xs and Os (nobody mentioned that besides Cranjis) standpoint in the first game; the last 2 games have not been too great...
Well hating on the head coach is a time honored tradition here at LB/CL. I expect to join in after a few months.
I'm really not understanding the lineups in games 2 and 3 - those BETTER be experiments and that's it. I want the same starting lineup from game 1 and nothing else going forward - no more tinkering - this is giving me shades of Luke - if i see tinkering going intot he season I"m going to break someething
We have a lot of talent on the coaching staff so I’m sure between all of them they see what we see and more. right?
He's going to have to hit the ground running. It could be another Potato Head to Pringles situation if we don't start out well. Big thing for Vogel to try to get from this team is consistent role players. LBJ/AD will do their thing, but we're going to need some consistent contributors from the bunch of players that we've signed.
This is the kind of offense I thought we were going to see from Walton instead of a f****** high post pick or a f****** weave out beyond the 3 point line 80% of the time. Guys cutting and moving and the ball moving. That was fun to watch tonight with more young players that look like they could develop here now that we had to give up the last group. Happy that I didn't have to look at rumored 4 or 5 guys out standing on the perimeter. I like our coaching staff and Handy talking to guys like Dwight when they come off the floor, and I love our defensive intensity. Dwight and McGee playing tag team on defense at the 5. Holy crap.
