The NBA just began its war on James Harden

The NBA G League will put into effect a small but laser-focused rule change this season. Players will take one free throw attempt regardless of how many points are on the line. That means a player fouled in the act of shooting a three will shoot one shot for three points, and a player completing an and-1 will shoot one shot for one point. The league says the rule is meant to address pace of play, which it will,
but it will have the secondary effect of bringing unwatchable, foul-hunting offenses closer into balance.

Does that mean he will become just role player, not superstar ?

Can you clarify please? Not following the ramifications of this "one shot only rule?. Made 2 pointer, 1 shot for 1 more point. Missed 2 pointer while fouled .... ? Three pointer made while fouled .... plus 1 shot? 3 pointer missed while fouled ..... ?

I was thinking he was only getting one shot, but it would be worth 1,2, or 3 points depending on the type of foul.

That would increase speed of the game for sure, but I'm glad that's being tested in the G League first.

This is incredibly stupid and I hope it never makes it to the actual NBA. This would eliminate the drama of end of close game situations, when all a player needs to do is make 1 if they’re fouled, or the make one miss one on purpose strategy of other scenarios.

Edit: apologies for not seeing this posted above already. Still, this is awful.

Not sure I understand this. I thought it said that no matter what, you ONLY get 1 FT for every foul, regardless of where the shot was taken from?!?!

Are you saying they could get more than one point for each FT, depending on the type of shot??

And if not, won't it encourage teams to foul all the time?

All players who are fouled in the act of shooting will shoot only one free throw.

If it’s an and-one situation, that one free throw counts as one point, same as always. If they’re fouled shooting a two-point shot, the free throw counts as two points. If they’re fouled shooting a three-pointer, it counts as three points.

The rule will not apply in the final two minutes of games, or in the overtime period

What @Weezy said above then. Incredibly stupid and .... they can shove it back up their butts where they pulled it from. (LT). Jerks with record book as well.

:ADORLY2:The Raptors have engaged in preliminary talks with Siakam’s representatives, according to sources, but there’s no indication that a deal is imminent. Siakam’s camp is surely looking for an extension at or close to his maximum of roughly $170 million over five years, as they should. The dialogue is ongoing and both player and team are hopeful they'll reach an agreement prior to the deadline, TSN is told.
Are they out of their mind ?
Siakam will earn $2.35 million this season – the final year of his rookie contract.

makes sense for the team to see if he wants to cash in early on a lower-than-max deal. also makes sense if he chooses to test the waters. but if i were him, i'd consider it. i'm not sure he's going to be a superstar, and one injury could cut his career earnings by a substantial amount right now. might be some middle ground on a 3 year 60 million deal with a player option on year 3 or something?

that way he gets paid big no matter what (40 million in the pocket as opposed to 2.5) and can still cash in on a megamax should he blow up.

No Westbrook last night, but Harden is in midseason form:

    8-22 FGA
    4-14 3P
