HA! That was a good talk with our new shooting coach. Mike looks like he enjoys grilling and a few beers. :Noddingyes: The Shaq story though .... hitting Mike in the chest with a "green softball" ... what a guy Shaq! And Mike with the sweet shooting stroke.

f***ing Rambis and all his power. Only thing Vogel should talk to him about, is that he's out of sharpies and gatorade.

Good read. It's a long scroll, but gives all the background on him you could possibly want. Plus the final 1/3 of the article is abound this team.

he seems pretty happy with the roster--though you could kinda feel him wishing cousins was the other center instead of howard.

like that he feels confident with cook and caruso getting minutes.

Ummm ..... I've always liked Frank?

Actually I love everything about everything he has said at the Presser and in interviews since. And MT gives wonderfully prepared interviews with insightful questions.

Enjoy your assistant coaching gig with the Clips Lue. Still can't get over you never winning a steenking game in 18 tries without LeBron in the lineup over 3 seasons. But Xs and Os. Yeah whatever.

i don't dislike vogel, but i haven't been impressed with his bball answers to questions--not that i'm the authority or anything.

and yes, lue's an idiot. he should have taken our "lowball" deal. we're better off without him than he is without us. vogel knows how to capitalize.

the level of disrespect for AD is pretty funny to me. leonard got to rest for 25% of the season last year whilst his team nabbed the 2 seed. they then got to play the warriors minus two all nba players for the title. AD would have done just fine in those circumstances, dorks.

Am curious. What kinds of questions has he been asked that you would have preferred much more detail? There's a whole getting to know his team that just turned everything over roster wise as well as getting to know his coaching staff. He's said he was involved with the selections of FAs to some degree that pleased him and hence we have shooters this year, likes our options at PG and options on defense. Which he coached really well in IN. If they hadn't run up against prime LBJ and those teams who knows maybe he gets to the Finals. I mean I'm just asking where you want more to hear him tell you stuff that maybe he wants the league to have to at least figure out on their own what we are doing. Soon enough. Once he figures it out in this brand new most recent coaching gig.

i think it's mostly a lack of detail. i mean, i guess he could be playing it close to the vest or doesn't think the interviewer will understand what he's talking about, but for instance: the brief discussion of how to play defense in the modern era. it opens with the discussion of two shot blockers, then he talks about how you can't just park guys under the hoop (a la hibbert) on account of all the stretch 5s and smallball lineups (btw, the reason i'm not worried about not carrying more centers), but he doesn't really explain how to solve that issue.

does he have ideas? probably. utah's built a defense around a fairly immobile shotblocker/rebounder (the latter's a problem for mcgee, imo), but he didn't say anything about how to do things--just how not to.

and i'm hoping his rondo discussion was just politics. his lineups were bad because they contained him, not the other way around.

My guess is it's just pretty early in the (game) here with all these players that are new together and he's not even had a practice yet to see what the many options for lineups will give him and what older players still have capabilities of doing effectively or need to be hidden with regard to.
