Beverley has gone from underrated to extremely overrated. He has - for his entire career - been a borderline scrub and a hustle player. Like all other PGs, he gets lighted up by the elite PG like Curry, Lillard etc...Now he screams and taunts other players and thinks he is something amazing. Nobody is afraid of him.
I for one do not think the Laker brand holds less power than it used to. I think it holds exactly the same amount of power it always has, but stars these days hold many times more power than they did in the past. That being said, it's VERY interesting that Danny Green and Jared Dudley and Quinn Cook all sighted the Lakers and the brand as a reason for joining. It's possible they're just playing the company line, but I also think maybe the brand power that we thought would net us stars, actually helps more these days netting us secondary players. Whereas before we assumed the brand would net us the big fish, maybe the brand power helps us more now by netting us smaller fish that can also contribute. Stars these days have every outlet for their causes and their projects. Everybody's eyes are on Damien Lillard all the time, but what about guys who aren't stars? Our brand certainly still helps them. We've helped guys rebuild a name for themselves here when we sucked (Ed Davis comes to mind), but if we've got a star to build around this environment is ideal for guys like Bullock who have a cause.
You and I had this argument a while back and I was very adamant that star players don’t need the lakers brand to be global anymore - with the advent of social media, it’s so easy to create strong personal brands now a days. You’ve got young players with millions of followers these days leveraging their brands for endorsements - it’s a new age. I definitely agree that we can provide spotlight to role players and help them restart their career. In a way to me that is a diminishing of brand importance.
I still believe the Laker brand is positive for any player. I dont believe our brand has weakened in the slightest, but the global nature of the game has strengthened the NBA in general. Anthony Davis will undoubtedly enjoy the very best of what being a star Laker has to offer. In fact he's swimming in endorsements and opportunities and he hasnt even put our jersey on yet.
dudley should be thankful magic aint bpo, pretty sure doughboy not even within the same stratosphere of magic fat berometer limits, i can see his dam man boobs lol
He looks old and fat... Doesn't really look like a pro ball player. I hope his tank isn't completely empty.
I won't be surprised to see Dudley closing out games when the Lakers are facing tough wings. He did an awesome job defending Embiid, Simmons, and Butler in that series, think he also did well vs Kawhi and he can help stretch the floor on offense. Also can't put a price on being vocal and willing to help and teach the younger players as he did in Brooklyn and that locker room.......
