I think we did well too (except kcp signing off course) but Kawhi's intentions were clearly to sabotage the Lakers future plans preventing us to sign another max free agent and better quality role players.

I think they executed plan B perfectly. Once the reptile announced he was going to Lac, the floodgates opened and they were able to get quite a decent haul from what was left. Come to think of it, Cousins was the back up big free agent along with Butler if we missed out on AD and other FA’s but now have both Cousins and AD and not to mention Lebron.

Green perhaps was slightly overpaid but then you see an older Ariza making almost similar money. He will also help us neutralize the reptile next door, as he was his confidant and most trusted ally both in SAS and Toronto.

I agree with his take. We will continue to have problems until we get new ownership. The Buss children are not up to the job, much as I like Jeanie the person.

Can we stop with the he sabotaged our free agency or that his plan was to weaken us. Look at the team we built, we are 9 deep with some nice pieces to round out the end of bench. And we can still play the buy out market next season.

For all those saying he doesn't owe us anything, that is a strawman and non-starter. You have every right to be a two faced lying prick to your coworkers and colleagues, you have every right to leave your company high and dry while lying to their face, it doesn't make you any less of a selfish a**hat. He might be on top now but it will catch up to him eventually.

Not getting too many likes yourself. Some agree some don’t but the truth is we have not had the best track record at the top in the past decade, so it’s not as trash as you make it out to be.

Interesting. So Winger used to work for Sam Presti. This is another reason why Jeanie should hire outside of the Laker family. You need connections to make the deal.

I don't think your asking former assistant to line up a trade is the most elaborate move in history, Woj. But game on.

Other thoughts- Kawhi rested for one year and he was only good for 60 games. I thought it was a good idea to pair him with Bron and AD to take the load off even less. The Clips got a lot resting on a calcified calf muscle TBH...

Guys, this was one epic thread and I shall remember it fondly.

Maybe the real Kawhi Chase was the friends we made along the way.

You’re right. My apologies. :wasntme: Seemed like old boy was attacking opinions, so I spoke out against, but I digress.

Oh it happens and I understand, didn't want it to escalate for all parties... :) Same team, same cause.

If that was his plan then props, it was worthy of being a super villain. I still thank him for stopping us from overpaying some guys though lol

So summer 2018 Kawhi gets traded to a place that he never asked to go. Doesnt b**** about it, when asked his future intentions, just says something to the effect of I'm here this year, gonna play hard. And he does. TOR knowingly ran the risk he would bolt.

Summer 2019 he's UFA, can go anywhere we wants. Pretty clear he wants to come to LA. He has 2 obvious choices. One team has an aging SS with a newly acquired SS, a bad owner, lousy FO and questionable coach. The other has a rock star owner, great FO and proven vet coach; it also has more depth, but is missing a 2nd star, but has the assets to get the star ans still maintain some depth.

Ever had 2 pending job offers at the same time? You create a +/- for both, which leads to a 1st and 2nd choice. Maybe the 1st choice has a few things that you want to alter for you to say "yes" to them. Meanwhile you dont say yes or no to choice #2, while you wait for #1 to act.

If the 1st choice meets all your requirements, you say yes. Does that make you a snake?

What makes him a snake is stringing two franchises along when he knew where he wanted to go. It's been reported by multiple outlets that he kept the lakers around on purpose while the clippers figured it out.

If the Clipps had botched it from his perspective, he probably would have signed with us. That means he was hedging his bets. I am not aware of any media report indicating that he lied to our FO about anything, but asked alot of questions about training staff etc. Our own FO suggested that the meetings went well and that they thought we had a good shot at him.

My son is a newly minted civil engineer. He currently has 3 very enticing job offers, and is asking good questions of all 3 prospective employers. Does that make him a snake?

If showing a high level of interest in employer #2, but eventually taking a position with employer #1 is immoral, then most of us are guilty as well.
