I don’t agree with his take that Zu showed glimpses of being a star, but the rest is interesting. Some is repeat quotes from the article above, some is new stuff.
Star is tough. And it’s hard for him to get 20 minutes a night, but when he saw 26 minutes this season, he averaged like 19-11 and 2 blocks while shooting over 60% (I think). Promising player for sure though.
He doesn't have the modern game to make him a star. He isn't particularly athletic or fast, can't jump high, lacks handles and can't really shoot outside the paint. He is a special weapon though. In the post he is one of the best finishers in the NBA, great at free throws and can rebound and block shots even though he struggles against faster players. He is without a doubt a rotation player in the NBA.
his limitations to stardom are his poor outside shot, poor passing ability, and slow feet on defense. but not being a star is not a condemnation. this is a perfectly suitable 20-25mpg nba center, and he's 21. but muscala and s***.
Soft. Slow. White. Euro. Trash basically. Take anything back in trade and we win. —- Magic (Probably)
I think they will be eaten up by GS...nontheless making the playoffs is impressive given their "potential". They finished while reaching 99% of their ceiling...the Lakers meanwhile struck out at 45%....
18/15 in 17 min on 66% shooting, and only positive +/- of the starters? Good thing we got rid of him before it was too late!
I read in the Times to be fair they didn't play him much early as he wasn't being very effective and those numbers ballooned in garbage time with the game well out of reach. Don't have the "Squirrel" handy with my phone so here's Pau.
7 Mio.... That's not insignificant. Too expensive for my taste but Balmer has deep pockets. 28 Mio... Zu is set for life.
Too expensive? Too expensive for what the Lakers could offer, sure, but he's worth it. It's a good deal for the Clippers, and it's a good first pay day for Zu.
Nice to see a non-negative post about the Clipps on this board. I can be a Lakers fan and still respect what they have done.
I find it strange that it was lobbied McGee had him traded given that he had supported the kid when he wasn't getting minutes. Zubac went as far as to confirm it. Does not make sense. I liked Zubac's play when he was here...was a good complementary piece. Congrats to him...
They've been scoreboarding us for half a decade. But I don't have to like it. Also, we're paying less for boogie/javale, so yay!
