It's also the scheme... if there is anyone that can mask a player's deficiencies it is Vogel. Caruso (PoP) is a good defender... from all those times catching shoplifters while bagging groceries.

I could see him getting 15-20 minutes of burn.

I mean we really don't have much choice right? Rondo will be much worse, but honestly, no one is going to stop those guys, we just gotta play into a defensive scheme that gets the ball out of their hands, a lot of denial and doubling and forcing other guys to score.

There is one name I haven't seen come off the board though, Avery Bradley. On the smaller side and has trended downward of late, but he was a bulldog defensively. He could be at the Room Exception level?

Avery Bradly would be an amazing addition at mid level exception.

The guy used to be a big time contributor on the C Bags teams.

^He's actually been really bad the last couple years although he put up decent numbers for Memphis in 14 games.

But looking at whats left player wise, I would take him for the minimum....just don't expect much production

I still think people are underestimating Caruso. Would he start for 20 NBA teams? No, but if you have Lebron handling the ball in crunch time anyway and AD, Kawhi and Kuzma fill out the rest of the roster, he can hang. Rondo is a worse basketball player in ever facet of the game at this point.

That's what I'm saying. Sure he's not that talented but he maximizes his impact in that role as a 3&D PG that spots up a lot. Maybe he'll give you 35% of Kyrie's production for 5% of the monetary cost. I'll take that on a team with the options it's looking like we're getting. I'm just worried about Vogel's ability to maximize these guys. Say what you will about Steve Kerr but he was a lot more like Phil Jackson than Tyronn Lue in that he got his superstars to play team ball within a structured system.

I mean, VanVleet was undrafted and was not even a household name until the playoffs. All it takes is one opportunity...

This guy gets no respect .... had to rescue off page 2 half way down.

I sincerely hope the staff gives him a chance to compete for the starting PG position. Our D would be much better than Rondo or Cook with his lack of size. Would love to see that happen.

I have him slotted in as our secondary point for the bench unit...if/when we can sign him.

Yeah that's the other great possibility, run our bench mob. Maybe too If Rondo or Cook are getting torched they at least can try AC out there quickly too as needed.

If this is true, Lakers may be done for now. Resign Caruso & Williams & leave a Roster spot open in case someone of interest gets waived..?

Side note: I like Williams...battles in the paint, just works his behind off. May not be a polished player but effort is a premium when it comes to doing the dirty work.

No. This is either going to fit into part of the Room Exception or it's going to be part of them messing around with the cap beforehand.

He could POTENTIALLY be our poor man’s Marcus Morris if he develops a consistent midrange jumper.
