Kawhi Leonard Discussion: “I’m A Snake Clipper Guy.”

As soon as I saw this photo, I started hearing “Regulators” playing in my head.

 

This has me psyched. Even without Kawhi, we have Lebron James and Anthony freakin Davis.

 

Twitter has a photo of Rich Paul texting while LeBron is in AD’s ear. I cannot currently upload this photo cause it’s too big. Can someone else do it and try to blow it up to see if we can decipher the text messages?

 

We tolerated posts about airplane speed relative to cargo weight in this thread so I think it’s ok if we briefly talk about good ol’ Amin Elhassan, because it’s somewhat Laker related.

ESPN’s old TrueHoop podcasts used to have a weekly portion of their podcast called “Black Opinions Matter Mondays”, which Amin somewhat hosted with rotating guests like Marc Spears and other black writers. I didn’t know Amin all that much, knew he worked for the Suns so it was fun to hear about “insider” stories.

There was an episode where Amin and another one of his cronies were dissecting a clip of Kobe throwing up a westside W , while an old Snoop Dogg song was playing in background. They were asking questions like “how much money you wanna bet that Kobe doesn’t know the words”, and basically implying that Kobe wasn’t “black enough”. Marc Spears was just laughing and saying “idk man”, which went on for like 15 mins. If thats not the definition Krusty’s Klown Kollege I don’t know what is. That kind of toxic discussion holds back the culture. Embarassing for a “black” podcast.

Other than that he sells himself as a smart*** with connections to front offices, but we’re 10 years removed for the last time he worked. At this point he’s a TV clown and not much else.

The 2010 WCF still burns Amin, if the Lakers didn’t dismantle the Suns that year, poor ol’ Amin might have had career as an NBA exec. Instead he hates on the Lakers (among other things) on TV and twitter for a living.

If Kawhi Leonard keeps the NBA waiting on his decision past noon Saturday, the Los Angeles Lakers might need to push back the date of when the Anthony Davis trade becomes official.

Leonard has been deciding between the Toronto Raptors, Lakers and LA Clippers. If the best available free agent doesn't make his decision by noon ET on Saturday, the Lakers would need the New Orleans Pelicans, Atlanta Hawks and Washington Wizards to cooperate on pushing back the July 6 date -- the earliest the trade can be made official -- originally agreed upon in the Davis deal.

League sources told ESPN's Bobby Marks that the Pelicans, Hawks and Wizards are expected to cooperate with the Lakers if Leonard is still undecided by noon Saturday. The date was agreed upon initially in the Lakers and Pelicans' deal sending Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart and three first-round picks for Davis. The deal was based on the Lakers using the $32 million in cap space created on a max free agent, such as Leonard or on other players available.

If the Pelicans, Hawks and Wizards do not agree to delay the date to make the trade official past Saturday should Leonard remain undecided, the Lakers' cap space would shrink to $30 million and Los Angeles would be able to offer Leonard only a four-year deal worth $127 million compared to the four-year, $138 million contract they can offer with $32 million available in cap space.

After agreeing to terms with the Lakers to deal Davis, New Orleans agreed to send the fourth overall pick (De'Andre Hunter) from the Lakers and the 57th pick (Jordan Bone) in last month's draft along with Solomon Hill to Atlanta for the eighth pick (Jaxson Hayes), the 17th pick (Nickeil Alexander-Walker), the 35th pick (Marcos Louzada Silva) and a 2020 first-round pick.




The Lakers created $32 million in cap space with help from Davis waiving his $4 million trade bonus, and by also agreeing to trade Moritz Wagner, Isaac Bonga, Jemerrio Jones and a 2022 second-round pick to Washington, which sent cash to New Orleans.

 

Kawhi is obviously making a very important decision. It only seems like an obvious and easy decision to everyone here because we are Lakers fans and we love our team. The guy clearly is interested but he did just win a championship with a team who decided to take a big chance on him. For him, it's gotta be a tough decision. Big-name FAs have waited longer to announce their intentions, actually. Seen some people calling him a diva but I truly think that he just has no idea what he wants to do.

I do think the language from Carter's tweet today was interesting, though. He says Kawhi will not "finalize" a decision today. Does that mean he is leaning in a certain direction? Hopefully this gets taken care of tomorrow. The fact that the media has no info on this at all is crazy. This has gotta be the most tight lipped free agency I've ever seen for a star player.

I respect that he's taking his time to make his decision, but he's got to realize that he's doing so at the expense of [negatively] affecting other people's lives. (ie teams/players involved in AD trade, free agents like Danny Green) We're at a point where his indecisiveness is starting to come off as selfish. Make a damn decision Kawhi.

 

So I’m hearing that LeBron and AD walked out a few minutes ago. Anything Kawhi related?
