Who can the Clippers realistically obtain at this point? Unless you’re telling me they announce a trade for Ben Simmons or Giannis, he’s not coming to the Clippers.

I'm not positive but I'm 99% sure that they can push teh trade back to meet their timeline of acquiring Kawhi.

Assuming the other teams won’t want to push the trade back, we need an answer from Kawhi tonight or very early tomorrow at the latest.

Regardless of if it’s Kawhi or not, we need to use our cap space before the trade. So if Kawhi rejects us at 8:30 AM tomorrow, that’s maybe not enough time to actually come to agreements with all our back-up plans AND have them actually sign their contracts.

    This is getting REALLY annoying.

If Kawhi announces before the trade goes through, he can get $138 over 4 years. If AD slots in first, as I always expected to be the case, then Kawhi gets $128 over 4 years. Remember it was reported last week after the Wizards trade the Lakers only are able to offer a near Max assuming Kawhi signed after the trade. If Kawhi signed before the trade then AD comes in and takes up the remaining cap space.

I’m sure the Lakers have made Kawhi and Uncle Dennis aware of this.

From what we've been hearing, we should be able to push it back at least 24 hours... but yeah I feel your frustration.

Full disclosure, the reason I’m not nervous is because I always expected the trade to go through before Kawhi announced his decision. Remember the whole hulabalu about processing the deal with the league either July 6th or July 30th before the Wizards deal, b/c it was about whether we could afford 2 max players. The Wizards deal unlocked the ability to provide a near max to the FA and have the trade process first with AD waiving his no trade kicker. By AD waiving the no trade kicker the Lakers are able to offer Kawhi $32m a year, and over 4 years it projects to $128m. The fact AD has agreed to waive this tells me that Kawhi is coming, he’s just coming after AD is officially traded to us.

The longer he waits, the more fans will hate him. I was ok with him picking Toronto yesterday, 2, 3 days ago. Now, he's f***ing pissing me off...

I don't know ... money-wise, it doesn't make a lot of sense to take a cut when AD is coming to us whether he commits today or in 10 days.

He’s responding to someone who believes Jalen Rose’s report, by sending someone else’s tweet where they acknowledge that Carter is the most connected person to Kawhi’s camp.

Basically, Carter is refuting Jalen and doubling down that Kawhi legitimately hasn’t made a decision yet.

At least that’s how I interpreted it.

If not they can halt the trade for some time before they start making enemies around the league.

I don't think it's a big concern at this time. If it drags on past the 6th, maybe then they'll have to do something. But Kawhi and his camp are well aware of the July 6th "deadline" here.
