he really deserves more than the Vet min, but we need a solid point guard with the room exception, he does get the 10+ year vet min around 2.3M, so it's not terrible money. it's not the 4.7 room exception, but he can sign for a multiyear vet min and the amount goes up a bit each year.
I honestly don't see any team rushing to overpay McGee. He had a solid 2 months and then tailed off after that. It's been the story of his career - he can't sustain his play over the course of a season...he gets too tired and he's not able to play as many minutes. I hope he sees the potential in this team and returns on a minimum deal again.
Crap, I was afraid we’d start hearing him connected to other teams. Maybe he wants more than the minimum because he had such a solid season. Really hope DeAndre Jordan is a legit option if we lose McGee.
oh f*** that. we should call danuel house's agent to set up a meeting. two can play this game you fat nerd.
Just asked what was going on with McGee, here's what I almost immediately heard back: Vogel would like to start AD at center based on modern offenses he's studied in his time post-Orlando. He understands AD's preference for playing power forward but feels it may not be optimal offensively to have two big men crowding the paint. He hasn't spoken to AD at length about this, though. McGee, after seeing we signed AD, is looking to see if he can get a starting job somewhere else. That's his primary preference (of course in addition to money) and he has no guarantee of that in LA. Remember how McGee had Zubac traded earlier this year? It was all about starting. He cares about those minutes. -Mr. Rambis
Makes sense that he wants minutes. I just find it funny he's taking a meeting with DET when he's clearly not starting over Drummond or Griffin. But I guess he's just laying out his options and can't knock him for that.
Dang, McGee all up in here trading fan favorites. Eff him. Make him drink that detroit toilet water. On a serious note, he'd have been an ideal backup for us. And I do think AD at PF is silly.
Heard KCP and Kuz are in the gym a ton too, including Kuz at MSA. BTW, I am sick of talking heads overlooking Kuz - "the Lakers have no depth and traded ALL THEIR YOUNG ASSETS for AD" blah blah blah. Lakers chose him over all the other kids for a reason. He is the best complimentary player to Bron and Ad, and has a ton of upside. With Frank as the coach, and his work studying film with Kobe, Kuz can be a decent wing defender. Effort and some athleticism. Granted, he has a loooooong way to go toward being a top 10 2-way player. Takes a work ethic - like Klay did. But he has the tools to do it. Anyone else see Kuz in a trajectory like Siakam or Middleton? At least Bogdonavic? Interesting that Kuz averaged more points last season than: Siakam, Middleton, Butler (statistical tie), Bogdonovic, and.... oh yeah, those boyz from Boston (Tatem and Brown). His +/- and other use/efficiency stats don't stack up to those guys, but much of that was that they were on better teams with better players, systems, etc. Anyway, his defense needs major improvement, so does his 3 point %, but he has many 30-point games and a 41-point game. It is seemingly always ignored.
