    This would make sense. There’s a decent amount of speculation that the reddit insider is close with one of the Buss brothers. I would imagine they’d be part of that small team.

    @Massacre Yep there's one level of indirection between me and Jeanie - I don't have a direct line. Not saying the Clippers news is false, just saying I can't confirm. As a fan, I hope it's true! Though I'm not surprised, my sentiment has been that the Clippers haven't been a serious threat for a little while now, and that is was mostly their collusion with the media portraying it as such. Believe I've posted that here as well.

    That's great and believe me I want to trust him. But if this is true why aren't the Clips spending some of their money on role players that may be important to them or to make sure we don't go after them once this Kawhi news does drop. Why are they waiting if they are out of the running..

    That's probably bc they still have Jerry West consulting. He isn't gonna go knee jerk and overpay like everyone in the league so far. The amount of money being spent on FA's so far is head scratching to say the least.

    Clips have roughly 30m in cap now after Harkless and her 2 non-guaranteed deals that could get to about 32m.

    They can also stretch-waive Harkless or Gallo to get more cap back ... But as of right now, we have more capspace than them.

    If they lose out on Kawhi, they can use the cap space to absorb further cap via trade and get compensated for it.

    Miami is still trapped by the hard cap (they have to shed about 9m) with the S&t of Butler. It's entirely possible that Dragic or James Johnson could still be part of the deal and be clippers bound.

    So it wouldn't be smart just handing out contracts to players in this FA pool if they strike out on Kawhi.
