“that we probably haven’t been talking a lot about is Kawhi with the Clippers”

    f*** WOJ

Seriously, all credibility lost with him. I hope we remove him from the little twitter widget we have on the home page.

You keep giving him pub, doesn't matter if he's a buffoon or not, you are giving him attention and clicks. Skip Worthless made a career with this.

This is all I have to say about any member of the media who convinced themselves the Clippers had a legit chance at Kawhi.

No, of course the league can not just do what it wants. Everyone in the NBA has arbitration agreements with the league for disputes. In brief, that means both parties pick an arbitrator (usually a retired judge who is particularly skilled in this type of law) and pay their expenses to act as judge and jury and decide the outcome of a dispute. Historically arbitrators are quite negative toward companies with vague and ambiguous rules which this would definitely fall under. They tend to side with customers/employees/agents which in this case would be the person vs the NBA. They would laugh this out of the arbitration room.

Edit: I saw the NBA has specifically told Magic to stay away. That could negate everything I said about no culpability but it really is "rules on the fly"

I'll be honest. I'm worried about that meeting with Magic.
Magic --- “I love the Lakers and just want to do what’s best for the Lakers and Jeanie Buss.”

Yeah we've heard that before :wasntme: In other words, he's going to blast our entire organization again.

It’s Kawhi’s birthday, 28 years old. What better gift than joining LeBron and AD and becoming the best team in the league, bringing glory back to the franchise and upping his legacy while doing the same for LeBron and AD?

We get a stacked team but no Kawhi,

ESPN "Lakers blew it, they needed that 3rd star. Poor job selling Kawhi on his P&G future".

Lebron - Slides the rights to Kawhi’s logo from Nike and his jersey says from last year.... I’ve been here for one season look at the fame I got

Magic - Slides the key to LA to him with a list of business opportunities.....I’ve been the king of LA off the court look how much the people will want you

Jeanie - Slides 16 championship rings to the center of the table and a max deal + Kobe legacy contract.....I grew up in this culture my whole life, we take care of our own, welcome to the family

A little lost in all of this, given that Kawhi signs with us, is that he will be able to show Pop his huge middle finger.

Not only he would get his wish to be traded (basically) to LA, he got a ring in the process and Pop got DDR.

I've been thinking about this weird meeting supposedly set up with Magic and Jeanie. If in fact the point of the meeting was for Kawhi and his camp to determine the stability of the Laker FO, they'd just need to talk to Magic only. Demanding that Jeanie be there as well seems a little bit bad form, if we are to believe the reports out there that Jeanie is livid at Magic for everything that happened. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the way things may have went down was Uncle Dennis called Magic and asked to meet with him at some point before the official Laker pitch to talk about the FO situation. Magic, to show that everything is good, may have said something like why don't we invite Jeanie so you could ask her yourself how things are and show that there isn't any animosity between the two and clear up any questions about management structure or anything else for that matter. If you're a FA, that's a pretty compelling offer, being able to get the two of the most power Laker icons to come to dinner with you and and answer your questions like that. Gots to make you feel special inside. Could be all fiction but I'm guessing that's how it may have played out.

Understand the gist but no one in media reporting she's livid with him. She got blindsided but they still have what they say is a good relationship and talk and dine together. Could be right about the why from Kawhi's request and your particular theory.

It's still out there. Now the Kawhi camp may be so plugged in that they're not paying any attention to that talk but the narrative is still out there. That Ohm Youngmisuk guy was just talking about that exact topic during the Sedano show yesterday. And even if they know it's probably not true, what's a better way to quash that narrative forever than to confirm it yourself.

Never heard of him, but he was saying she actually was still upset with him? Probably just running his mouth like most, but what did he say exactly?

My recollection isn't all that great at the moment, having barely slept because I can't stop checking on Kawhi updates, but I believe the guy, who happens to be an ESPN NBA insider, was talking about Jeanie probably still being upset. I think there's a podcast that you can check out if you want.

BTW, anybody else scratching their heads at Momo breaking that whole thing about Magic yesterday? She's been talking so much s*** about Magic and I can't imagine either Magic or the Lakers not knowing about this. For someone that was supposedly shut out, she was able to reel in the biggest of big fishes for this interview. I'm wondering what that was all about.
